Azam Khan’s media in-charge comes all out against Akhilesh
Azam Khan, who is currently languishing in jail used to be one of the giant Muslim leaders before the BJP era began in the state of Uttar Pradesh. His stature can be determined by the desperation Samajwadi Party showed after his arrest. Also, not to forget Azam Khan contested the 2022 assembly elections from behind the bars in Sitapur jail and registered victory on the Rampur seat for the 10th time.

Recently, Azam Khan’s media inchargeFasahat Khan, at a party office in Rampur asserted that CM Yogi was right when he said that Akhilesh does not want Azam Khan to be out of jail.
Khan in his outburst mentioned that “on the indication of Azam Khan, the Muslims voted in favour of the Samajwadi party.” And accused Akhilesh Yadav of not taking sides of Muslims and not giving importance to Muslims within the party. He added, “Now Akhilesh Yadav feels our clothes stink.”
It is being said in the political circles that Akhilesh Yadav began side-lining Azam Khan from the day he took charge of the party. Azam Khan is an SP loyalist, he never joined any other party, even when he was expelled from the party. He returned back stayed close to the Yadav clan. After almost two years in jail, the supporters of the Muslim leader are getting desperate as their leader has not been paid any heed by the party high command, more appropriately to say the Yadav family.

First Shivpal then Azam Khan, SP’s ship is sinking
The Samajwadi Party founded by Mulayam Singh Yadav thrived on the M-Y factor. Here, M stands for two things i.e. Muslims and Muscle Power. It is not a hidden fact that SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s brother Shivpal Singh Yadav held the muscle power that strengthened the party from the inside.

But the equation between Samajwadi Party and its ally Shivpal Singh Yadav doesn’t appear to be good anymore. Shivpal Singh Yadav in 2018 had floated his party, the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia), after a long-drawn tussle with nephew Akhilesh. Although after not seeing an eye to eye for years joined hands for the 2022 UP assembly polls, where they received a drubbing. After the results, the feud reappeared, on one hand, Shivpal Singh Yadav who contested on an SP ticket was dropped from the party meeting. On the other hand, Shivpal met CM Yogi Adityanath which stirred up speculations of Shivpal Singh Yadav joining the BJP.
The second M is used for Muslims. Muslims have been the core voter of the Samajwadi Party apart from the Yadav community. The giant leaders that kept the Muslim vote bank intact were the likes of Azam Khan. The post-election analysis proved that in the 2022 elections as well Muslims voted in huge numbers for the Samajwadi Party.
But one after the other, the big Muslim names from the Samajwadi Party are accusing the party and high command of not working for the Muslims. Before Azam Khan’s media was in charge, SP leader Shafiqur Rehman Barq also accused the party of the same.
Shivpal Singh Yadav, who helped the party expand in the state has been rewarded in such a way that he is aligning with the BJP. The second one to drift away may be Azam Khan and along with him, Samajwadi Party may lose its core Muslim votes. With these steps and failing to keep its big faces together, the Samajwadi Party is on its way to implode. It can be said that Samajwadi Party is tracing the sinking Congress’ footprints and it may soon become Congress 2.0.
