People like Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan slander India on the world stage and make outrageous allegations against the Indian government. But when it comes to Pakistani and Turkish citizens stranded abroad, India becomes a saviour for them.
Presently, Ukraine is in the middle of a big war. Russian troops and tanks are dominating the streets of Ukraine. And therefore, foreign nationals and students are facing a tough time in getting out of the war-torn country. However, some of them are lucky enough to use the Tricolour and find a safe passage.
Indian students advised carrying the National Flag
Last week Union, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy advised Indian students stranded in Ukraine to carry the National Flag on their vehicles for safety.
Speaking to ANI, the Union Minister said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Ministers and heads of the countries surrounding Ukraine. So if Indian travelling on buses, cars or two-wheelers, reach the border of Ukraine to get into another country, the Indian government has made sure that they are allowed entry without any problem. For the people who are reaching the border of Ukraine into Romania, the Indian government had taken measures to bring students from there for free of cost.”
Russia promised no action against Indian students
India’s historical ties with Russia have come to the rescue of the Indian students stranded in Ukraine. Moscow promised that it will not harm Indian students during the ongoing military operation, and therefore the Tricolour guaranteed protection for Indian students.
The Union Minister added, “We have asked the students who are travelling on bikes, cars and buses to display the Indian flag prominently on the vehicles. People who are not carrying pictures of flags have been sent flags through social media. Russia has promised that it will not take any action against Indian students. We have asked them to reach the Ukraine border carrying the Indian Flags.”
Pakistani and Turkish students use India’s National Flag
You wouldn’t have imagined that Pakistani and Turkish citizens would ever flaunt the Indian National Flag. Yet, they were forced to do so in Ukraine.
One of the students, who arrived from Odesa in Southern Ukraine said, “We were told in Ukraine that being Indians and carrying Indian flag, we won’t have any problems.”
One of the students even narrated how they prepared the Indian flag in a hurry. The students added, “I ran to the market, bought some colour sprays and a curtain. I then cut the curtain and spray-painted it to make the Indian tricolour.”
The students also revealed that even some Pakistani and Turkish students passed border checkpoints using the Indian flag.
The Indian government chalked out an impressive evacuation strategy for its citizens stranded in Ukraine. And then, they also benefitted from the friendly Indo-Russia ties. Turkish and Pakistani students, on the other hand, got no help from their country. And despite all the hatred for India in their respective countries, they had to rely on the Indian flag for their evacuation
