Recently, the United Nations – which is a useless, expensive, and optical sham of a multinational organisation decided that hatred for Muslims, and Islam is on the rise across the world. The word ‘Islamophobia’ literally translates into “fear of Islam”. The United Nations, and scores of people around the world, however, have been programmed into believing that the word represents ‘hatred’ towards Muslims and their religion. So, March 15 has been declared the ‘International Day to Combat Islamophobia’ by the United Nations.
The resolution asks all countries, UN bodies, international and regional organisations, civil society, the private sector, and faith-based organisations “to organise and support various high-visibility events aimed at effectively increasing awareness of all levels about curbing Islamophobia”, and to observe the new International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
Plight of Hindus in Bangladesh
While the United Nations, at the behest of Pakistan and the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) was quick to act on the resolution calling for a day to be dedicated to countering Islamophobia, Hindus in Bangladesh were getting assaulted and their temples getting looted.
A mob of 200 Islamists desecrated the ISKCON Radhakanta Temple in Bangladesh’s Dhaka on March 17. The heinous attack on a Hindu temple was organised by one 62-year-old Haji Shafiullah. The Islamist mob desecrated the murtis, vandalised the temple premises, looted money and other valuable items during their offensive. The violent mob was heard raising slogans of ‘Allah hu Akbar’.
ISKCON Kolkata vice-president Radharaman Das said these attacks were of grave concern. He was quoted by ANI as saying, “Last evening, when devotees were preparing for Gaura Purnima celebration, a mob of 200 people entered the premises of Shri Radhakanta Temple, Dhaka, and attacked them… three of them were injured in scuffle. Fortunately, they called the police and were able to drive away miscreants.”
Earlier, in October 2021, an ISKCON temple in Noakhali was vandalised and one person died. Three more were killed over allegations of a Quran desecrated at a Durga Puja pavilion in Bangladesh.
United Nations Turns a Blind Eye
Obviously, the United Nations has nothing to say about the violence inflicted upon non-Muslims, especially Hindus around the world. There are no days that the UN will allocate in memory of Hindu victims of Islamism. Yet, the intergovernmental bloc will readily get swayed by a bunch of Islamist lobbyists looking to have their way in the organisation’s New York headquarters.
India knows what the United Nations is, and what it stands for. So, it opposed the UN’s attempts to allow the recognition of religious hate against just one community – Muslims. Nothing could be more emphatic than India’s unequivocal denouncement of recognition of Islamophobia by the UN. While putting forward India’s views on the International Day of Islamophobia sponsored by OIC, TS Tirumurti, India’s Ambassador to the UN, asked the body to recognise all forms of religious violence, rather than just one.
Trimurti pointed out the pro-Abrahamic bias of the United Nations and said that phobias against religion are not limited to Abrahamic ones alone. Informing the UN about anti-Hindu, anti-Buddhist and anti-Sikh violence, Trimurti said, “such (religious) phobias are not restricted to Abrahamic religions only. In fact, there is clear evidence that over decades such religiophobia has, in fact, affected the followers of non-Abrahamic religions as well. This has contributed to the emergence of contemporary forms of religiophobia, especially anti-Hindu, anti-Buddhist and anti-Sikh phobias.”

India was not just speaking an overexaggerated mess of words. In fact, its assertions have been proven right as Hindus once again find themselves being targeted in Bangladesh – which is an Islamic country. As a matter of fact, Hindus even get picked on in India by Islamists. Yet, the United Nations is occupied trying to woo the likes of Pakistan and other Islamic nations who see the world in one hue alone.
