Kangana Ranaut – a film actor who is believed to be one of the few persons who dared to raise their voice against the ‘insiders’ of Bollywood. Time and again, she has truly displayed strength by refusing to be cowed down by police summons, by exposing Uddhav Government and not mincing her words when it comes to displaying ‘nationalistic’ ideology.
What if such a person who is loved and appreciated by many for sticking by a particular ideology suddenly steps in with a rather shocking decision? It would be quite disheartening right?
Believe it or not but Kangana Ranaut has done the same. However, she is being criticized by those who used to support her for a hypocrite decision that she made recently.
Kangana’s ‘Munawar’ connection
A reality show named “Lock Upp” ALTBalaji and MX Player’s has been hogging the limelight ever since it was announced. Well, there are certain reasons for the same.
The first reason is Kangana Ranaut herself. The ‘queen’ of Bollywood was herself hosting the show and that made people excited about the show.
Wait, there is something more to the show that made the audience glued to their couch when the first episode was aired. Well, that is Munawar Faruqui.
Yes, you heard it right. Faruqui was roped in for the Kangana show. Even if it disappoints many of you but it is the truth. Notably, Kangana and Faruqui have been loggerheads with each other for a long time. Moreover, the difference in ideologies is another reason that made people question the duo coming together for a show.
For those unversed, Munawar was arrested by the Indore Police last year for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and was in jail for almost a month.
How Kangana ended up giving a platform to Munawar
Earlier as reported by TFI, Faruqui was arrested on January 1 from a cafe in Indore following a complaint made by an outfit called Hindu Rakshak Sanghatan. The complaint alleged that Faruqui had made some derogatory comments against Hindu Gods and Goddesses and even made fun of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In the aftermath of the complaint, he was lodged at Indore jail along with four others.

It was the anti-Hindu jokes and derogatory comments on the Godhra riots because of which Faruqui’s twelve shows were cancelled in the two months. The last show which got cancelled was scheduled in November. However, after several attempts to fight the cancellation by Hindu activists, Munawar Faruqui had opted to say a tactical goodbye to his comedy career.
But Kangana came to the ‘rescue’ and Faruqui was roped in for the show. Now, he has platforms like AltBalaji and MX player to justify himself.
Even if it looks like he was made part of the show only to get roasted by Kangana, but the fact that Munawar has been given a national platform cannot be denied.
It is interesting to note that Kangana and Munawar were seen locking horns in the first episode when the so-called comedian was introduced to the audience. Kangana asked him, “Munawar, why are you here? I hope you’re not here to mess with me. Mazaak kar rai hu yaar. Hum bhi toh joke maar sakte haina (I am just kidding. I can crack a joke too, right?).” Munawar replied, “Bas thoda funny nahi tha (Just that it wasn’t too funny).”
Munawar added, “Mujhe comedy se kuch change nahi karna hai. Kalakaar kranti nahi la paaya aaj tak (I don’t want to change anything from my comedy. No artist has been able to bring a revolution with their work).”
Kangana schooled the comedian and stated that she has been one artist to do it. “Agar yahan pe saza-e-maut hoti toh inko de di jaati (I would have announced the death penalty for him if it were allowed),” she said.
Munawar, however, insulted the host and disrespectfully replied, “Mereko dhamkiyan mat dijiye (Don’t threaten me).”
If you look at the above instances, you may notice that Kangana is attempting to roast Faruqui and school him. But the question arises that why it was necessary to bring Faruqui to the show and provide him with the platform he needed.
According to a report in Indian Express, on Saturday’s episode, Ranaut can be seen slamming contestant, comedian Munawar Faruqui for creating his own content on ‘Lock Upp’ rather than giving content to the audience.
Well, she’s not too bright.
I can feel your jealousy towards him.
