Actress Rohini Molleti began performing at the age of five and has appeared in over 130 south Indian films. In 1995, for the film Stri, she earned a National Award of Special Mention and the Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Special Jury Award for Best Performance. Her full name is Rohini Molleti and she has been active in the industry since 1976.
Career
She began her acting career as a child actress in 1976. Yashoda Krishna, a Telugu film, featured her as a wide-eyed five-year-old for the first time. In the Telugu and Tamil film industries, she is also a well-known dubbing artist. In five of Mani Ratnam’s films, she has voiced six characters. Actress Rohini Molleti has contributed her voice to actresses such as Jyothika (Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu), Aishwarya Rai (Iruvar and Raavanan), Manisha Koirala (Bombay), and Amala Paul (Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu) (Shiva). In Geethanjali, she also dubbed for Girija Shettar.
She composed lyrics for the Tamil film Pachaikili Muthucharam before returning to the music scene with the album Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey, in which she wrote all of the songs.
Her acting abilities were recently acknowledged with the Kalaimamani award. Actress Rohini creates episodes for Tamil television shows. She began writing TV series scripts in 1996, and in 2005, she adapted the Sahithya Academy Award-winning novel Verukku Neer for a telefilm. She hosted Vijay TV’s live conversation show Kelvigal Aayiram, which she described as “dealing with subjects close to my heart.”
She was the host of Kalaignar TV’s Tamil programme Azhagiya Tamizh Magal. She has also worked as the host of the Raj TV show Rohini’s Box Office, where she appraised new films. Rohini has directed short films for M.G.R. Medical University and Tamil Nadu Aids Control Society as an AIDS awareness worker.
Actress Rohini created the 50-minute documentary Silent Hues on child actresses in the film industry in 2008, as she was one herself. She directed the feature film Appavin Meesai in 2013, which has yet to be released.

Rohini was born in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, but spent her entire childhood in Chennai. Appa Rao Naidu, her father, was a panchayat officer, and Radha, her mother, was a homemaker.
In 1996, Rohini married actor Raghuvaran. Rishivaran, the couple’s son, was born in 1998. In 2004, the couple divorced.
Inspiration
Her father had always wanted to be an actor, but because he couldn’t, he encouraged his daughter to do so, and through her, he was able to realise his dream. Her mother passed away when she was five years old, and her father eventually remarried.
