Liberals seemingly are reluctant to support those who can destroy Marxist historians and expose their lies rather seamlessly. Consequently, they discredit anyone who writes about anything different from their own stable. Unfortunately, the process seems to have backfired as the relentless attacks have led to greater attention and book sales of their intended targets.
Here, the target we are talking about is a historian and acclaimed author Vikram Sampath. He is being targeted by the liberals. However, the evidence based on which left cabal is attacking Sampath reportedly seem to be a bit weak.
Liberal’s delicious meltdown on Sampath’s book
Author Vikram Sampath is again being targeted by the left-liberal group for his book on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Bereft of any issues to attack Sampath, the leftists have now begun accusing him of plagiarism.
Three US-based ‘historians’ of India, Georgetown University professor Ananya Chakravarti; Rohit Chopra from Santa Clara University; and Rutgers University academic Audrey Truschke had sent a letter to the Royal Historical Society in Britain. In the letter, they have pointed out that there is a pervasive, long-standing pattern of plagiarism in Sampath’s work.
They have reported that Sampath’s article published in 2017 has directly picked content from two articles without proper attribution.
As per their claim, the first article titled ‘A revolutionary’s biography: The case of VD Savarkar’ is written by Irvine historian Vinayak Chaturvedi’s. It was published in the referred journal Postcolonial Studies in 2013. The second article is a 2010 essay, ‘Savarkar (1883–1966), Sedition and Surveillance: The rule of law in a colonial situation’, written by Berkeley professor Janaki Bakhle.

The three historians have also claimed that there is a similar resemblance between a passage in Sampath’s two-volume biography of Savarkar and an award-winning undergraduate thesis written in 2012 by a Wesleyan University student, Paul Schaffel.
Sanyal to the rescue
However, Principal Economic Advisor and author Sanjeev Sanyal came in support of Sampath. Refuting the claims, he stated that “the evidence provided in the letter doesn’t relate to any of Sampath’s major works but the transcript of a speech he did at India Foundation in 2017.”

“Second, the supposedly plagiarized sentences are from two scholars Vinayak Chaturvedi & Janaki Bakhle. They are both mentioned in the references, and the former is mentioned clearly in the text. Is it plagiarism when the source is mentioned prominently?” he asked.
Sanyal further added, “Third, Janaki Bakhle reviewed Vikram’s book on Savarkar. She had both positive & negative comments, but nowhere did she mention plagiarism.”
India is witnessing a revolution and the Indian history is being told the right way. Since Vikram Sampath has the potential to destroy Marxist historians, a campaign is now being waged against him. However, the attacks have led to a huge success of his book and thus, liberals have failed yet again.
