Bye Bye Lord Nazir Ahmed! Have a safe trip, to jail

Lord Nazir Ahmed

It was a few days back when ‘Lord’ Nazir Ahmed, a former Pakistani-origin Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom was convicted of paedophilia. Mind you, he is the heartthrob of the liberals and the anti-India lobby. However, the heartthrob will now spend a gala time in jail as he has been jailed for five years and six months.

Lord Nazir to be jailed

The Sheffield Crown Court, in January, had convicted Nazir of attempting to rape a young girl and sexually assaulting a boy under the age of 11 In the 1970s. Nazir’s older brothers — Mohammed Farouq (71) and Mohammed Tariq (65), were co-accused in the case involving the abuse of a minor boy but were deemed unfit to stand trial.

The 64-year-old pleaded not guilty but an audio-recording conversation between him and the victim girl emerged, and it proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Nazir.

Justice Lavender delivered the sentence on Friday. Justice Lavender of the Sheffield Crown Court told Ahmed, “Your actions have had profound and lifelong effects on the girl and the boy, who have lived with what you did to them for between 46 and 53 years.”

Ahmed’s victims, however, are also demanding that he should be stripped of his title. The male victim stated, “I’m happy in that he got a lengthy custodial sentence, but not happy he is still called a lord and everything that goes with it.”

He further added, “It cannot be right that people are still referring to him honourable Lord Ahmed — he’s a paedophile, there is nothing honourable about that at all.”

The woman victim also stated, “An overwhelming feeling of shame remained with me throughout my childhood and early adult years. It was a burden I was made to carry, and it silenced me for many years. It is now time for me to pass that burden to him — the paedophile who I know feels no personal shame.”

Who is “Lord” Nazir?

Nazir Ahmed was born in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.  His political roots are in Rotherham, where he grew up and is currently residing in. He moved to the United Kingdom in 1969 with his family where he joined his father working in steel factories in Rotherham.

In 1998, he became one of the first Muslim peers who was inducted as House of Lords by then-Prime Minister Tony Blair. He resigned from the Labour Party in 2013.

The anti-India Nazir has always backed the protests supporting Kashmiri militancy, reviving Khalistan disturbance and insurgency in the North-East. He had also hired five private billboard vans with slogans such as ‘Free Kashmir,’ ‘Free Khalistan,’ ‘Free Assam,’ ‘Free Nagaland,’ and ‘Free Manipur.’

Apart from his hatred for Hindus and essentially Indians, Nazir has been accused of anti-Semitism as well. When sentenced to prison in connection with a fatal car accident in 2007, Nazir had referred to the sentence, which was later reduced by a court of appeals, as a “Jewish conspiracy.”

However, with the decision to jail “Lord” for paedophilia, the British judiciary has set an example. Those committing sins to sexually assault the minors must have learned the lesson.
