UP Police was notorious from time immemorial, for being more of an accomplice for the criminals and the powerful tyrants, rather than being the custodians of the safety of the citizens of the state.
And then, CM Yogi Adityanath happened. Ever since the man took oath as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the state has been a dramatic downfall in the criminal acts. Moreover, the state has also witnessed the end of Police ‘gundaraj’.
However, Akhilesh Yadav seemingly is unhappy with the significant improvement in the state police force. And, we have a reason to claim the same.
“Ae police, Tumse zyada badtameez or koi nahi” – Akhilesh Yadav
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav is known for his demeaning and imprudent statements. And he is back with the same. Recently, the Samajwadi Party supremo attempted to hog the limelight in the worst way possible. He made derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh policemen who were deployed during his election rally in Kannauj on Wednesday.
Yadav, while campaigning for UP election 2022 in Kannauj, stated, “Ae policewalon..ae police…ae policewalon, ye tamasha kyun kar rahe ho…Tumse zyada badtameez or koi nahi ho sakta. Lagta hai ye tum log BJP ke kehne pe kar rahe ho” (Aye policemen why are you creating ruckus…No one can be ruder than you guys. It seems you are doing this on the behest of BJP).
Reportedly, the police personnel were doing their duty and trying to organise the crowd at the rally. But SP Chief seems to have some personal grudges and thus, out of enmity, he made the brutal remarks.
Yogi government’s focused on improving law and order
The UP Police was one of the biggest victims of the ‘yadavisation’ drive launched by the previous SP regime of Uttar Pradesh. Yadav caste was not only given political patronage but, disregarding every procedural and ethical conduct, was given preference in administrative apparatus to an absurd level.

According to a Times of India report in 2014, more than 60 per cent of the police stations were headed by officers belonging to the Yadav community. This Yadavisation of the UP police forces resulted in a rise in crime in the state.
However, BJP has been focusing on the ‘improved’ law and order situation in the state to woo the voters in the Uttar Pradesh election 2022. Earlier as reported by TFI, CM Yogi had taken bold steps to end malpractices including putting an end to the SP era ‘yadavisation’ process of the state police.
Probably, that is why Akhilesh is having a hard time dealing with the UP police. And that is clearly visible in his recent speech.
