Earlier in September 2021, Modi had an approval rating of 70 per cent, the highest among 13 global leaders polled in the survey conducted by The Morning Consult. Now, he has once again emerged as the most popular world leader, with an approval rating of 71 percent.

PM Modi revived India’s economy

Under PM Modi’s leadership, India’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew at a record pace of 20.1 per cent in the first quarter of FY22 — the highest-ever GDP growth in a single quarter.

Thereafter, the GST collection numbers released on Wednesday for August showed a 30 per cent increase from the same month the previous year and, crossed the $1 trillion mark for the second consecutive month.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also finely balanced the establishment of a Chanakyan economy with major welfare schemes, aimed at providing immediate relief to India’s poor.

India has consistently improved its ranking in the Global Innovation Index ever since the Modi government came to power. The country was ranked at 81st position in 2015 and currently stands at the 46th position as per the report prepared by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

Digital India

The country is digitally connected now, and we have pioneered the digital payment sphere to such an extent that developed nations like Singapore are collaborating with India’s revolutionarily UPI system. In 2020, the transaction volume share in India stood at 15.6% and 22.9% for instant payments and other electronic payments respectively.

The record-breaking Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions in 2021 both in volume and value terms have added a fur in India’s cap, making it a global e-payments leader. According to data released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), in December, 4.56 billion UPI transactions worth Rs 8.27 trillion have been recorded.

By far, the most important reform that the Modi government has announced is the redefinition of the term adjusted gross revenue (AGR). Until now, the telecom service providers were required to pay AGR dues to the government which included non-telecom revenue.
