Abbas Mustan is an Indian filmmaking pair made up of brothers Abbas Alibhai Burmawalla and Mustan Alibhai Burmawalla. They are noted for directing elegant suspense, action, and romantic thrillers in Bollywood with dark-lit themes. Khiladi, Baazigar, Soldier, Ajnabee, Baadshah, Aitraaz, Humraaz, 36 China Town, Race, Race 2, and comedian Kapil Sharma’s debut film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon were all directed by the duo.

About them and their career

Abbas Burmawalla, Mustan Burmawalla, and Hussain Burmawalla are brothers from Surat, Gujarat. They got their start in Gujarati movies. They joined Sultan Ahmed, who was directing the film Ganga Ki Saugandh, as assistant directors (1978). They then worked with Govindbhai Patel as an assistant director on various films. When Patel turned down the opportunity to direct the Gujarati film Sajan Tara Sambharana (1985), Abbas–Mustan got their first break, directing the picture.

Debut

Agneekaal, their debut Hindi film as filmmakers, was released in 1990. They’ve directed more than 14 Hindi films since then. They finally established Burmawalla Partners, their own production company.

Awards

Both were awarded Life Membership of the International Film and Television Club by the Asian Academy of Film and Television.

Abbas Mustan Films

In 1990 Abbas Mustan made Agneekaal with Jeetendra, Raj Babbar, Madhavi, in 1992 they made Khiladi with Akshay Kumar, Ayesha Jhulkaa, in 1993 they made Baazigar with Shah Rukh Khan, 1996 they made Daraar with Juhi Chawla, Arbaaz Khan, Rishi Kapoor based on Sleeping with the Enemy, in 1998 they made Soldier with Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta. All these films are blockbuster hits and they provided the platform for actors like Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar to be Bollywood superstars.

Baadshah, Baadshah (English: King) is a 1999 Hindi-language action comedy film from India. Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna feature in the pivotal roles. On August 27, 1999, it was released. Khan was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comedy Role for his work in the film. The concept of the film is loosely inspired by the American films Nick of Time from 1995 and Rush Hour from 1998.

Chori Chori Chupke Chupke of Salman Khan, Ajnabee of Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol are their films and all of them are evergreen movies. We can go on and on, the director duos have created many films and they are legends of Bollywood.

Abbas Mustan directed the 1992 Indian Hindi-language suspense thriller film Khiladi. Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori, and Sabeeha also star in the film, which also features Prem Chopra, Shakti Kapoor, Anant Mahadevan, and Johnny Lever in supporting parts.

Since their yearly days, they always worked together and when someone says director Abbas Mustan then you will never feel that they are two different people working together.
