Humanity before anything. Well, it’s not just a saying, it has a significant reason behind it. Those lacking humanity end up losing everything they have achieved in their entire life. And, we have Sushil Kumar as an example to vindicate this. The ace wrestler Sushil, after 14 years of heroics at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is on the verge of losing all the fame and popularity that he earned. And Sushil himself has to be blamed for it.
A new chargesheet against Sushil
The Delhi Police recently claimed in its supplementary charge sheet that on 5 May, Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar had ordered his aides to beat wrestler Sagar Dhankar along with other wrestlers black and blue before the alleged kidnapping and killing of the latter.
The charge sheet also alleged that Sushil reached Chhatrasal stadium and there he fired at dogs. He also had beaten up other fellow athletes with his gun forcing them to leave the stadium.
Anil Dhiman (Kumar’s security guard) has reportedly revealed the above accusations. He claimed that he was with Kumar on the night of the alleged murder, when the latter allegedly called goons at the basketball ground, saying that he wanted to “teach a lesson to some people.”
“Do not leave them alive. Beat them mercilessly,” Kumar allegedly had said.
King of wrestling to alleged criminal
Once a man who made India proud is now a mere criminal with a devilish approach towards people. At the 2012 London Olympics, he carried the Indian flag at the opening ceremony. His bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics was India’s second in wrestling, and the first since Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav’s bronze at the 1952 Summer Olympics. In July 2009, he was awarded India’s highest sports honour, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna (known at the time as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna). At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Sushil won gold in the 74 kg division.

However, he later emerged as an alleged murderer. A Look-out-Circular (LoC) for an absconding Kumar was issued after a brawl that broke out in May 2021 at the Chhatrasal Stadium which resulted in the death of a 23-year-old wrestler named Sagar Rana.
The chain of events started on May 4 when a quarrel took place between Sushil Kumar, Ajay, Sonu, Sagar, Prince, and others in the parking area of the stadium, where most high-profile wrestlers of the city practice.

The police report suggests that Sagar was staying in a house linked to Sushil in the Model Town area. It is being alleged that the Olympic medallist had asked Sagar to vacate the premises, but the youngster continued to stay there with his friends.
Sushil Kumar’s fall from grace has disappointed Indians who took pride in calling him as one of their own. Many young kids looked up to him for inspiration. Kumar, however, should face the music and apologise to the whole nation.
