The Congress is presently focusing on a campaign called ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Congress general secretary and UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been talking about women issues. And it seems that the grand old party wants to woo women voters. But guess what, Priyanka Maurya, the poster girl for the ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ campaign has made some serious allegations that could leave the Congress red-faced.

In a huge blow to the Congress, Priyanka Maurya has alleged that the Congress’ distribution of tickets ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls was rigged.

Priyanka Maurya couldn’t get a party ticket from the Sarojini Nagar seat
The poster girl of the ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ campaign wanted to contest elections from the Sarojini Nagar seat in Lucknow.
However, the party has given the ticket for this seat to Rudra Daman Singh. Speaking to India Today, Priyanka Maurya said, “I entered politics thinking I would be able to help people and make a difference. I am a doctor who has done social work. Everyone said I’d get the ticket. The party said it would be decided based on the observers’ report. The observers recommended my name, but I did not get the ticket.”
Maurya added, “Through us, you want the OBC vote. But you won’t give us the ticket.”

Priyanka Maurya’s allegations are a huge setback for Congress. The party was banking heavily on women voters.

However, Priyanka Maurya’s allegations leave the party red-faced. In an interview with TV9 Bharatvarsh, Maurya also alleged ill-treatment with women during a ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ marathon. The party, therefore, finds itself in a tight spot less than a month before the UP Assembly polls.
