Jawed Habib has once again grabbed the eyeballs of the netizens and as usual, for all the wrong reasons. Popular for his hair salon chain across the nation, Habib, in an alleged video, can be seen spitting on a woman’s head. Soon after the video went viral, netizens hit out at Jawed Habib for such a “disgusting” act.
The viral ‘spitting’ video of Jawed
The 30-second clip, floating around the social media, was shot during a training seminar by Jawed Habib in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar. In the viral video, a woman can be seen seating on a chair on the stage in a hall while Habib was giving her haircut to demonstrate the audience.
Habib, while cutting hair, took a pause to spit on her hair saying, “Mere baal gande hain kyunki maine shampoo nahi lagaya hai. Dhyaan se suno, aur agar paani ki kami hai na (My hair is dirty because I did not wash it. Listen carefully, if there is a dearth of water).”
“Iss thook mein jaan hai (There is life in my spit),” Jawed Habib added.
The woman in Habib’s video who has been identified as Pooja Gupta from Baghpat was visibly irritated. Pooja, in a video circulating on social media, expressed her resentment asserting that “She was terribly disappointed after Jawed Habib misbehaved on stage by spitting on her hair.”
Pooja Gupta stated, “Hello, mera naam Pooja Gupta hai. Vanshikha Beauty Parlour ke naam se mera parlour hai. Kal maine ek seminar attend kiya, Jawed Habib sir ka. Unhone stage par mujhe haircut ke liye invite kiya. Aur unhone itna misbehave kiya. Unhone yeh dikhaaya hai ki agar aapke paas paani na ho toh aap thook se bhi haircut karaa sakte hain. Toh maine woh haircut nahi karaaya (Hello, my name is Pooja Gupta. I own a parlour. Yesterday, I attended Jawed Habib’s seminar. He called me on stage for a haircut and misbehaved with me. He said that you can cut hair with spit also if you do not have water. So, I did not proceed).”
NCW seeks action against Jawed Habib
Taking cognizance of such a ‘shameful’ act, the National Commission for Women (NCW) is seeking action against Habib. The Commission took to Twitter to inform that its chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to the UP Director General of Police (DGP) demanding action against Habib. The letter read, “The commission has taken this incident very seriously and not only condemns this in strongest possible words but also seeks your urgent intervention in the matter to investigate the veracity of this viral video for immediate action as per law/procedure.”

Hairstylist Habib, earlier in 2017, was caught up in the controversies for an ad that was put out in his company’s name for the Durga Puja. The print ad displayed Goddess Durga, along with her children Kartik, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Ganesh, enjoying a soothing day, at Habib’s beauty parlour. The tag said, “Gods too visit JH salon.”
Jawed Habib, despite being a popular businessman, lacks civility and have no respect for his customers. The hairstylist, if looking forward to surviving in the nation, needs to prevent himself from misbehaving with people.
