Israel and India have been standing by each other for a long time now. In a recent move to mark one more step towards strengthening its bond with India, the Israeli Government is all set to provide technical assistance to help the former to convert 150 villages into ‘Villages of Excellence’ in 12 States.
India will convert 150 villages into Centres of Excellence
Reportedly, India will soon convert 150 villages around the Centres of Excellence into villages of Excellence with the help of Israel. Israeli Government will offer Bharat its expertise along with technical assistance to make agriculture a more profitable business.
While welcoming Israeli Ambassador Naor Gilon at Krishi Bhawan on the occasion of 30 years of diplomatic relations with India and Israel, the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar reported this development. He further informed that 75 villages would be turned into centres of excellence this year and the remaining ones will be converted subsequently.
He said, “Presently 29 Centres of Excellence have been functioning in India in 12 states, producing more than 25 million vegetable plants, over 387 thousand quality fruit plants, and has the capacity to train 1.2 lakh farmers per year.”
The Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Gilon, also stated that “these CoEs are a great example of cooperation between the two countries and proposed the certification of CoEs to further enhance the standards and quality of services being provided to the farmers.”
India and Israel celebrate 30 years of ties
On January 29th, 1992, both the countries established a formal relationship that has expanded with time from agriculture to security. To mark the 30 years celebration of diplomatic ties with each other, India and Israel will light up their iconic buildings.
The buildings will be lit up with the official logo that was launched to celebrate the occasion. The logo was launched by the Israeli envoy to Bharat, Naor Gilon, and the Indian envoy to Israel, Sanjeev Singla. It depicts the Star of David and the Ashoka Chakra and forms the numeral 30 as the countries are entering the 30th year of bilateral relations.
While the Gateway of India will be lit up in Mumbai, In Israel, the iconic Masada fortress, which overlooks the dead sea, will be lit up.
Indian envoy Sanjeev Singla explained, “India and Israel are two ancient peoples, proud of their cultural heritage, and two vibrant democracies, eager to grasp the future. Together, we can shape a better future for India, Israel, and the world. ”
This indicates a strong show of support from the West Asian country that considers India as a strategic partner.
