Golden Star Ganesh Kishan (born 2 July 1980) is an Indian actor and television presenter who is most known for his work in Kannada films. He has established himself as one of Kannada cinema’s most popular celebrities and highest-paid performers through his work in films and television shows. He has won a number of honors, including two Filmfare Awards. After starring in the film Mungaru Male, he became well-known (2006).

Ganesh rose to prominence after starring in the Kannada film Mungaru Male (2006), which broke box office records. By the end of its record-breaking 865-day theatrical run, it was estimated to have grossed over 75 crore.

It was the first film in India to be constantly screened at a multiplex for a year in any language. Ganesh earned the epithet “Golden Star” as a result of the popularity of Mungaru Male.

Family

Golden Star Ganesh was born on July 2, 1978, in Adakamaranahalli, a village in Karnataka’s Nelamangala Rural district. Kishan is his father’s name, and Sulochana is his mother’s. His mother is from the Vokkaliga community. Mahesh and Umesh, his younger siblings, made their acting debuts in the Kannada film Namak Haraam (2016).

Ganesh began his acting career in various television programmes and a telefilm that has yet to be broadcast. Golden Star Ganesh then became the host of Comedic Time, a comedy talk show that aired on Udaya TV. Director B. Suresh took notice of his popularity on the show and placed him in the film Tapori (2002) as a villain. He continued to work as a supporting actor until he was cast in the lead role in the film Mungaru Male (2006).

Ganesh’s first on-camera project was Guttu. Despite the fact that it was made as a telefilm in Karnataka, it had trouble finding a timeslot to air, and the unhappy producers decided to screen it as a feature at festivals and select theaters in the United States. Deepak, a hapless software systems analyst played by Golden Star Ganesh, becomes entangled in the ambitious adventure of an NRI woman (played by Chaya Singh) who visits India to retrace her family tree. In this debut part, his sense of humor and timing shone through.

Yadva Tadva, Vataara (directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar), and Pa Pa Pandu were among his TV appearances. He made the television show Comedy Time popular as a performer. The show aired on Udaya TV from Monday to Friday at 5:00–5:30 p.m. in the beginning and 5:30–6:00 p.m. later.

Guttu, a telefilm directed by India’s youngest female film director, Priyabharati Joshi, an NRI who moved to India with the goal of breaking into the Indian film business, was his maiden film.

In the film Tapori (2002), directed by B. M. Suresha played a villain in his first feature film role. Because “the hero was intended to hit on the face and hit so brutally that (his) nose started bleeding,” Ganesh’s portrayal of the character was a “gory” experience for him.
