Five states of the country including Uttarakhand and Punjab will witness elections in the coming days. Congress, as it always does, has backstabbed few of its allies for the sake of appeasement politics. One of the sacrificial lambs of Congress for this year election is Harish Rawat, the ex-CM of Uttarakhand. In the aftermath of being sidelined by the grand-old party, this assembly election might mark an end to the political career of Harish Rawat.
Rawat changes his seat from Ramnagar to Lalkuan
In what can be seen as a surprising move by the political party, it has been announced on Wednesday that the star campaigner of Congress party Harish Rawat will contest the upcoming assembly election from the Lalkuan constituency in the Nanital district instead of Ramnagar.
Rawat reportedly has replaced Sandhya Dalakoti who was earlier named the candidate from the Lalkuan in the second list. Rawat, now, will be contesting against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mohan Singh Bisht.
Though there has been no explanation for the reason behind the last-minute changes in the list of candidates the speculations that the decision to shift out Harish Rawat is the result of a rebellion by Ranjit Rawat, have set the market abuzz.
It is pertinent to note that Harish Rawat’s seat has been changed despite the fact that he was adamant about contesting from Ramnagar.
Rawat had earlier reported that “Ramnagar has made immense contribution in his political career”.
Congress Party turns rebellion against Rawat’s candidature
The rift in the Congress party does not seem to end anytime soon. After Sidhu – Amarinder and Sidhu – Channi, the party is now witnessing a new tussle between Harish Rawat and state working President Ranjit Rawat. The latter had allegedly questioned Harish Rawat’s candidature from Nainital’s Ramnagar in the upcoming Uttarakhand election 2022.

A purported video of Ranjit recently hogged the limelight in which he can be heard demanding the withdrawal of Harish Rawat’s candidature. Launching attack on Harish Rawat, Ranjit had reportedly questioned the winning capability of the former as he had lost both the seats in which he contested in the 2017 Uttarakhand elections.
“Will you let someone else (Harish Rawat) reap the harvest of a barren land which you made fertile,” Ranjit Rawat can be heard asking Congress party workers in the video.
Harish criticised his own party
Earlier as reported by TFI, it was a few days back when Harish had shocked the Indian political landscape with his tweet criticising his own party. He later pinned the tweet that indicates the depth and significance as if it was written with a purpose.

Posting a thread of tweets, he clearly expressed his pain for the reason that his party members were trying to throttle his efforts.
He also expressed his disappointment as the people at the top of Congress hierarchy appointed incompetent people to assist him. Fed up with this, he wished to take a full-fledged rest from his job.
Given the above instances, it is safe to say that once the star campaigner of Congress who went around the clock to ensure party’s growth and success, is now a mere lamb for the party who has been sacrificed to avoid infights within the party. And if this goes on for a while and Rawat loses the elections as well, the political leader will be left with nothing but a failure that will mark the end of his career.
