Ali Akbar, Islam, Hinduism

Enraged by the insensitive remarks and reactions of a particular section of Islamists after the death of Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, Malayali film director Ali Akbar and his wife Lucyamma announced that they will be converting to Hinduism, leaving Islam.

Announcing his decision, the noted director said, “Today, I am throwing away an attire I received by birth. From today onwards, I am not a Muslim. I am an Indian. That is my reply to those people who posted thousands of smiling emoticons against India,”

Ali Akbar had posted a video on his personal Facebook page where he criticized the Islamists who mocked the death of CDS Bipin Rawat. However, for reasons unknown, Facebook suspended his page. The director then opened another account and declared that he was leaving Islam.

Akbar remarked, “Within five minutes of speaking out against those who put up emojis, the account was blocked. I can not accept it, I can not agree with it, so I’m leaving my religion. I or my family no longer have a religion. That is the decision.”

Ram Singh is Ali Akbar’s new identity:

Announcing his new identity, Akbar asked to be called as Ram Singh from now on. Speaking about the inspiration behind his name, Akbar said, “Ramasimhan is a person who was killed while sticking to the culture of Kerala. Tomorrow Ali Akbar will be called Ram Singh. That’s the best name,”

Ramasimhan, his brother Dayasimhan or Narasimhan, Dayasimhan’s wife Kamala, belonging to a prominent family in Malaparamba, (now in Malappuram district) were allegedly murdered on August 2 1947, after their conversion to Hinduism from Islam.
