Khalistan loving Moosewala couldn’t join the Congress Party till Amarinder was there

On the 3rd of December, Punjabi Singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala was inducted into the Congress party by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and state unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu Moose Wala who made it in the aged-old Congress party under the leadership of Channi and PPCC Chief Sidhu had failed to join the party until Amarinder Singh, the ex-Chief Minister of Punjab ruled the state.

Controversial Sidhu Moosewala’s entry into Congress

A Khalistani supporter and promoter of drug and gun culture, Sidhu Moosewala joined the Congress party a few months ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022. Welcoming Moose Wala into the party, Channi had asserted that “The rapper became a big artist with his sheer hard work and won hearts millions of people with his songs.”

Interestingly, Moosewala’s entry into the party has grabbed the eyeballs of all as the singer is infamous for promoting gun culture through his songs. Earlier in 2020, Moosewala was booked under various provisions of the Disaster Management Act and sections of the Arms Act in Barnala for firing an AK-47 rifle at a firing range.

Given the lyrics glorifying guns and drugs in his songs, Moosewala was heavily slammed by netizens. He had also been booked twice under IPC sections 188 (disobedience to order), 294 (obscene acts and songs), and 504 (provocation to break public peace) for using a 9mm pistol at the Ladda Kothi firing range.

Moose is a yes for Channi, No for Amarinder

Moosewala did not dare to join politics through any party until Amarinder’s reign as the Chief Minister of Punjab. It was only after Capt Amarinder had resigned from Congress for the humiliation he had to face within the party that Moosewala quickly grabbed the opportunity and was inducted into Congress.

Whereas Captain Amarinder Singh never gave in to Kalistani appeasement for vote bank politics and has been one of the most vocal Congress leaders in countering the Khalistani movement both in the state and abroad, Moosewala, on the contrary, had been a firm supporter of Khalistanis. The singer, in one of his Punjabi songs titled “Punjab (Motherland)” released in the year 2020, had allegedly hailed Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his aides.

Amarinder, a man with a nationalistic approach, had been against singers found promoting violence and gun culture in Punjabi songs.

Well, being a nationalist in the Congress party is perhaps the main reason why Captain Amarinder Singh could not capitalise on his governance dream to the fullest.  Even the singers like Sidhu Moosewala feared him for his nationalistic approach and firm ideology, thus could not join the party under his reign. Now, when the Punjab Government is openly backing Khalistan supporters, Moosewala has also joined Congress.
