Bharti Kumari, a little girl who was only 12 years old and came forward to help people during the pandemic in 2020. Bharti Kumari set an example as a Corona Warrior.
She started by making several masks for her parents who couldn’t afford to buy one for themselves. Since then, she has been making more and more masks and distributing them for free in her community.
Bharti Kumari lives in Bhalswa landfill in Rajiv Nagar of Delhi. She regularly spent two hours a day stitching the masks to distribute them in the colony and nearby. She helped many who were unable to buy masks to shield themselves from the deadly coronavirus.

Parents and Inspiration of Bharti Kumari
Her parents, Maya Devi and Ramjeet Tiwari are waste collectors, working under an aggregator at Bhalsa. Bharti learned about the importance of masks to avoid Coronavirus at Chintan NGO, which runs informal classes for waste collectors. The classes she attended at Chintan was undoubtedly an inspiration to her. After that, she decided to stitch masks on her own to help parents and others in the colony.
She is currently a class 9 student and at that time she was in class 8.
We need more people like Bharti who are skilful and empathetic enough to come forward and help others even after solving financial problems at home.
She might be a little girl but her small contribution is an inspiration for humanity. Like Bharti Kumari, many Corona Warriors came to light in the dark times and their helping hand is always a torchbearer to humankind.
