Sensing the massive pitfall of attending what was ostensibly a conversion event, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and actor Sonu Sood on Wednesday backtracked on their earlier decision. Channi and Sood were supposed to attend an event hosted by Prophet Bajinder Singh who was opening a branch of his supposed ‘healing centre’ in the Moga district of Punjab.
The advertisement on the YouTube channel of Bajinder alleged that attendees would witness “miracles” by him. It claimed Singh would heal people with cancer, disabilities, and possessions. Channi, alongside a part-time actor and a full-time PR aficionado Sonu Sood, was supposed to attend the event.
However, as soon as the photo of the invitation went viral on the realms of social media platforms, clamor ensued. Netizens took to Twitter and targeted the Punjab CM and actor for legitimizing a Ponzi, televangelist who tricked people with claims of miracle and covertly converted them.
One netizen remarked, “Not only Punjab CM but also @SonuSood part of missionaries and he is talking about humanity”

Meanwhile, another quoted American fantasy writer David Eddings and remarked, “It’s common knowledge that the “church” is nothing more than an invention of the priesthood designed to swindle the ordinary people of the empire out of just about everything they own. David Eddings.”

Some called out Bajinder’s organization a front for money laundering activities, “This is absolutely nonsense. This is another front of Money laundering. These people get findings from foreign missionaries and that’s used to do their dirty work under the guise of religion.”

Bajinder has been jailed for rape charges
It is pertinent to note that Bajinder is the same guy whose ‘Yeeshu-Yeeshu’ video became a meme material, all over the internet. Moreover, Bajinder was reportedly arrested in 2018 on charges of raping a woman who was part of his security team.
Sonu Sood attending the event was purely due to personal reasons. Earlier this month, Sonu announced that his sister Malvika Sood Sacher, 39 will foray into Punjab politics by contesting in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections from the Moga constituency.
With Bajinder opening the new center in Moga, it could have been the perfect opportunity for Sonu to launch his sister amongst the loyal fanbase of Bajinder. Often, evangelists like Bajinder have an extremely naïve but loyal fanbase.
While Sonu was in it for personal gains, what begets the question is that why Channi said yes in the first place to attend the event. After all, he is the head of the state and more importantly, a Dalit head state- at least this is what INC high command told the media during his coronation.

As reported by TFI, immediately after INC tooted its horn by giving the state of Punjab its first Dalit CM, Sudarshan TV’s editor-in-chief tweeted a picture of Charanjit Channi’s wife, with a Christian cross hanging on the wall behind her.

A popular Twitter user ‘No Conversion’, posted a video of Charanjit Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu addressing a group of Christians, while shouting “Hallelujah Hallelujah”.

The opposition has been targeting Chaani for being a convert who is playing the Sikh Dalit card to cater to both vote banks.
An attempt by Congress to change Punjab’s demographics
As reported extensively by TFI, Christian conversions in Punjab have been on a rapid rise, thanks to scamsters like Prophet Bajinder Singh. Akin to Singh, a pastor named Ankur Narula boasts of preaching the ‘good news of Christ’ to a congregation of more than 100,000 people every week.
Narula started his ministry in 2008, with just 3 people, which grew to 8000 members in 2012, 25000 members in 2015 and 118000 members, as of October, 2018.
His website, claims that “numbers are increasing at a very high pace as hundreds of people take baptism in the church every month”.

With the appointment of the alleged Christian Chief Minister and Sidhu’s mysterious connections, the INC seems to be on a mission to convert as many Sikhs and Hindus to Christianity for votes, before the 2022 Punjab assembly elections.
Considering the party’s history of sneaky and dirty vote-bank politics at the expense of Hindus all over India, it should not come as a surprise if the Sikh religion faces a similar brunt, in Punjab.
