Video of Johnny Lever claiming to heal Hrithik Roshan in the name of Jesus is disgusting

Johnny, Ayurveda, Medicine, Hindus, Hindu

Even though people all over the world and especially the western countries are increasingly adopting Ayurveda and Yoga, few ‘intellectual’ Indians are attempting to demean this human welfare. Probably, this is because it is associated with Hindu identity. Johnny Lever, an Indian actor who is known for applaudable performances in more than 300 Bollywood films, is the newest entry to the mob targeting Ayurveda.

Johnny’s joke on ‘Ayurveda’:

In a video floating around the media, Johnny Lever can be seen demeaning Ayurveda to promote Christianity. Giving a reference to Hrithik Roshan’s liver problem, Johnny claimed that it was his prayer (In the name of Jesus) that led to the miracle healing of the former.

Posting the video on twitter, a user wrote, “Yess I appreciate Johnny Lever’s work and love his comedy But here is his another side, promoting Christianity demeaning Ayurveda and fooling innocents by miracle healing in the name of Jesus. true or not @iHrithik must clear it.”

Netizen’s reaction:

Soon after the video grabbed the eyeballs of netizens, Johnny was brutally bashed by twitter users.

A user named Vibhor Agrawal slammed the comedian cum actor and tweeted, “This Is Ridiculous. Why don’t they go to country border and say Corona Go @iHrithik Sir, Johny Lever is not doing any comedy. It’s now your moral responsibility to come up with truth. Is this incident real?”

Replying sarcastically, another user tweeted, “All the patients in the hospital line up at Johnny Lever ‘s house who can say GO all the aliments will go. Real Live DHONGI is Johnny Lever.”

West’s obsession with allopathy:

Ayurveda remains one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world. Being a 5,000 years old school of medicine, it is a traditional holistic medical system that translates to ‘life knowledge’. Ayurveda primarily concentrates on improving health and wellness by harmonising the mind, body and spirit. The goal is to heal from the inside while improving longevity and helping people live a balanced life.

Despite this, people always have had a problem with someone asserting Hindu identity and things like Yoga and Ayurveda are associated with this identity. If someone is asserting Graeco-Roman identity in the modern West, they are considered superior but at the same time when the best practices of the East are asserted, they raise questions.

Dr JA Jayalal, the President of the IMA, had also used crass language against Baba Ramdev, saying that the Yoga Guru should receive two slaps for challenging Allopathy. For the uninitiated, he is the same man who wants to use medical institutes to spread the “word of Christ” or in simple terms, propagate Christianity in medical schools, training centres and hospitals. Clearly, his enthusiastic attack on Ayurveda has roots in his religious biases.

Johnny Lever, the most noted comedian in Indian Cinema, is loved by all for his commendable work. But, the actor cum comedian needs to realise that demeaning Ayurveda to promote their own culture is not a joke and will not be tolerated at any cost. Thus, he should stick to his acting career instead of cracking jokes on a sensitive matter.
