Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has become the collective target of the left-liberal mob after he arrested Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan off the Cordelia cruise ship, earlier this month. However, it is NCP leader Nawab Malik who has made it his life mission at the moment to come after Wankhede and his family, as his son-in-law, Samir Khan, was similarly caught in the NCB net for possessing 75 kg of marijuana and 125 kg of other intoxicants.
With daily press conferences and doxing attempts, Malik has opened up a full front. However, till now, he has been barely able to scratch the 2008 batch IRS-C&CE officer. Upon a closer examination, it is made clear that the central government is standing firmly behind Wankhede and ensuring that he bats on the front foot to counter the egotistical maniacs of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
MHA mulling creating new NCB posts to help the investigations:
The extent of the backing by Modi government to NCB can be gauged by the fact that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is mulling creating additional 3,000 posts at the NCB, to expand its nationwide footprint. It is pertinent to note that MHA is responsible for administrative control of the NCB and for coordination among various central and state agencies.
A senior official was quoted as saying, “Due to paucity of the workforce, we have to rely on other agencies and state police, due to which quality of investigations suffers at times, as not all forces are trained to handle drugs investigations,”.
Wankhede’s family holding the fort:
Ever since Malik leveled allegations that Wankhede was in the Maldives during the lockdown and conducting an extortion racket, it’s his sister Yasmine Wankhede who has raised her hand and took charge to fearlessly counter the NCP leader’s propaganda.
Yesterday, she lodged a complaint at Mumbai’s Oshiwara police station, requesting an FIR against Malik. She has also mailed a copy of her complaint to the National Commission for Women (NCW).
She wrote in the complaint, “Request to take cognizance of my grievances so as to safeguard my constitutional rights as a woman with a further request to take appropriate steps to deal with the named accused in accordance with the law, including issuing the appropriate directions to the concerned Police Station to register C.R. (F.I.R.) against Mr. Nawab Malik,”.
Similarly, Wankhede’s wife, Kranti Redkar, has also been dismantling bogus claims that Sameer was a Muslim. Redkar remarked that her husband was born a Hindu, and that he never changed his religion. Redkar also contested the claim made by the Qazi, who had performed the first marriage of Wankhede in 2006, that he was Muslim at the time of the ‘nikah’.
Usually when a government official is hounded in such an incessant way by a politician, the said officer, more often than not, is forced to take a step back, fearing for his family. However, given the way Wankhede’s family has been conducting themselves assuredly and maturely, speaks volumes about the support they have from the government.
The department is behind Wankhede:
Moreover, the department has stood solidly with Wankhede, even when Malik released a fake letter claiming that Wankhede had allegedly registered “fake cases” on 26 instances. NCB released a statement and stated, “No action will be initiated on the anonymous letter (containing allegations against NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede) forwarded by Maharashtra Minister & NCP leader Nawab Malik to Director General of NCB as per guidelines of Central Vigilance Commission.”.
Additionally, NCB has summoned Prabhakar Sail for interrogation after he came out with some shocking revelations and accused Wankhede of taking extortion money. Prabhakar Sail (40), whose selfie with Aryan Khan went viral in a video, had asserted that he is “scared of Wankhede” and for his life, as the NCB officials apparently have his signatures on blank papers. Prabhakar said, “There was discussion of a bribe to Sameer Wankhede…I collected Rs 50 lakh in cash.”.

Wankhede is a classic example of an honest government employee getting hounded for merely trying to do his job. The rich and famous who have been ensnared in the net are troubled that they cannot buy him out and thus are desperate to deride and assassinate his character.
