In a recent CEAT tyres advertisement, Social Justice Warrior and a hobby actor, Aamir Khan was seen sermonising Hindus for the umpteenth time on how to celebrate a Hindu festival. In the ad, Aamir Khan is shown as the supporter of the Indian Cricket team who remarks, “Anar, sutli bomb, chakarghini – today if our team hits sixes, we will also burst crackers. But where? Inside the society? Roads are not for bursting crackers. It’s for traffic.”
In another ad, Aamir is seen giving a pep talk to the baarati’s at a wedding. He remarks, “No one will become a Naagin on the street. This is a country of brave soldiers. Today is my friends’ wedding. Whatever will happen, will happen on the footpath. The issue is about safety. The road is only for traffic. “

In both ads, after Aamir’s monologue, a voice in the background remarks in a mocking tone, “…one day we will become wiser, but until then…” and it cuts to Amir bursting crackers on the road and dancing in front of a car on the road.

Aamir’s ad comes at a time when the controversy surrounding Muslims hogging space on public roads and creating clamour has escalated to a nationwide row.
Muslims offering namaz on the public road
Recently, a video went viral on the realms of social media platforms where local Gurugram residents were seen pleading before the Gurugram police to remove a group of Muslims, sitting on a public road and offering namaz.
The locals sounded desperate, almost helpless, and tried to convince the police officers to take action, only to see them gingerly walking around, trying to evade the public. One of the residents was heard as saying, “We pray Hanuman Chalisa at the temples but these people gather around here like this, misbehaving with our daughters and sisters, we are scared of them”.

While the police officers remained stoic at the spot, refusing to take any action, the Gurugram police tweeted a baffling update to wash its hands off the controversy, which it was forced to delete later.
“The ‘Namaz’ spots at public places have been decided by both Hindu and Muslim communities after mutual understanding and this place is one among them. Maintaining communal harmony and peace is our utmost responsibility and we will ensure that. @PMOIndia @cmohry @police_haryana” the Gurugram Police tweeted, justifying the illegal encroachment.

Owaisi playing his despicable communal game
While the locals of the locality only wanted the public space to be clear of any inconvenience — polarizing and communal political leaders like Asaduddin Owaisi jumped in on the controversy and used it as an opportunity to bring Hindutva into the conversation and openly chasten Hindus.
Owaisi remarked, “There is no masjid in that area (of Gurugram). Where do these poor people go to offer namaz, which is an integral part of our religion? This is plain majoritarian, Hindutva politics we are witnessing in all BJP-ruled states that is now stopping people from worshipping also.”
Thus, the people are outraged that Aamir Khan who doesn’t miss a single occasion to preach Hindus is uncharacteristically silent on the illegal encroachment of land by his fellow brethren.
Encroaching public roads – the modus operandi
The modus operandi of encroaching a public land is simple. First, a group of Muslim men starts offering Namaz on the public road. After a significant number of Muslim men routinely engage there — a structure resembling a Mazaar or a dargah is erected.
Fast forward a few months and it is claimed that the Dargah had been there for centuries and hence the land is registered in the name of religious institutions. And because the governments want to keep up with the charade of appeasement, an illegal property is quickly stamped a legal ‘religious’ property.
Thus, the likes of Aamir Khan do not have the moral right to preach Hindus when they cannot do the same for their religion. Aamir understands that if he speaks a sentence against the customs and rituals of his religion, thousands of dictatorial Fatwas will be issued and a bloodthirsty mob will get the free rein to come after him.
