The power tussle in Punjab Congress has been the talk of the town for a while. Now, with Amarinder’s resignation, reports of speculations that he might float his own party to ally with BJP have been circulating in the political circle as well as the media. In such a development, Amarinder landed in the power corridors of New Delhi on Wednesday to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and NSA Ajit Doval. While the meeting was assumed to chart a future course of action regarding the political career of Amarinder, it also concerned the security of Punjab which is currently in danger as Navjot Singh Sidhu is still in power. In a nutshell, it can be affirmed that the meeting was held to make sure that Pakistan’s man Sidhu faces the music.
Shah-Amarinder met to discuss national security
TFI had earlier reported that Amarinder, after few days of stepping down as the Chief Minister of Punjab, has decided to quit the grand-old Congress party. He also went to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence where the meeting between the two heavyweights lasted around 45 minutes. It is also pertinent to mention that after meeting Shah, Captain also met NSA Ajit Doval. Sources in the Captain’s camp stated that the discussion was over farmers and issues of national security along with the internal security situation in Punjab.

Capt Amarinder, after the meeting, had said, “I usually keep meeting (Doval) on the issue of national security. Even though, I am not the Chief Minister, but Punjab is ours. We are concerned about its security. Drones are coming, weapons are coming.” He further said that earlier during his government the security was a major concern, but the current state government led by Charanjit Singh Channi and operated by Sidhu’s remote control is a major threat to Punjab’s security.
Amarinder and BJP had aligned multiple times in the past over the national securities issues. Dushyant Gautam, BJP general secretary in-charge of Punjab, in a statement, said, “Any person who is a nationalist and worries about the national security of the country is welcome in the BJP.”
Nationalist Amarinder to teach Pakistan’s man Sidhu a lesson
Amarinder will always be remembered as a nationalist who defied being the puppet of the Congress high command. In the aftermath of the dastardly Pulwama attack, Captain had aggressively batted for the central government to retaliate and thus his inclusion might not be as divisive on the ideological lines.
On the contrary, Sidhu has maintained a close friendship with Imran Khan despite Pakistan’s support for Islamist terrorism. In fact, Sidhu is even famed for having embraced Pakistan’s chief of army staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Considering Sidhu’s close relations with Pakistan, Amarinder fears that if he rules the state, the internal security situation in Punjab will get worsened. After giving his resignation, he had said, “I’ve said it from day 1 that he went. He’s a friend of Imran Khan, I said to not go, I was CM, he didn’t listen. Then he hugged Bajwa. Then he takes credit for Kartarpur. I asked why he hugged Bajwa when daily my Jawans were being killed at the border. He doesn’t care, he’s only interested in himself and his contacts in Pakistan. So what is there, what isn’t, is not for me to say, it’s for the central agencies to see.”

Amarinder, miffed at the treatment meted by the aged-old party to retain Sidhu, is all set to ensure that Sidhu does not lead the state at any cost. In addition to that, he is working around the clock to throw Pakistan’s man Sidhu out of the state because of his pro-Pakistani stances.
