Trends like “Panauti” are exactly the reason why the opposition struggles to create any national narrative

Modi Indian Hockey Congress Opposition

On Tuesday, the men’s hockey team suffered heartbreak after they lost to Belgium 5-2 in the semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics. However, even before the final whistle was blown, the word #Panauti started to trend as the opposition specifically targeted a certain tweet by Prime Minister Modi.

“I’m watching the India vs Belgium Hockey Men’s Semi Final at #Tokyo2020. Proud of our team and their skills. Wishing them the very best!” Modi tweeted.

While the whole nation was supporting the Indian Men’s Hockey Team at the Olympics, so was PM Modi. He had been wishing the team his best regards throughout the match. The team was playing against Belgium and was competing to get into the finals. Everything seemed to be going well for the Indian team in the beginning, as Harmanpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh managed two goals against Belgium. But eventually, the Belgium team managed to overwhelm the Indian side and score 5 goals, thereby winning the match and reaching the finals.

This gave the Congress IT cell an opportunity to target PM Modi’s tweet. As the opposition targeted the PM’s tweet, they focused on how the timings between Indian team losing and PM Modi’s tweet was pretty close. And so they started to push the trend #Panauti mocking the Prime Minister. The Hindi word Panauti means harbinger of bad luck. It is very prominent that most of the trending tweets come from Congress IT cells or supporters: ‘United With Congress’ and ‘Spirit of Congress’

Twitter was on fire. As people started getting indulged in the spirit of the trend created by the opposition, one twitter user tweeted: “Panauti….. Someone please engage him with random talk on mangoes and peacock while women’s hockey match is played. Please.”

It is obvious that these baseless trends are just created by the Congress IT cell to defame the BJP. It further reflects the shortsightedness of the opposition who look for any mere excuse just to troll the Prime Minister. PM Modi is very active on Social Media, he gives his best regard to every Player representing India in the Olympics or any international forum, he has always been very supportive and positive about the same.

While the country should be applauding and supporting the hockey team for their hard work and passion, the opposition blaming and shaming the Prime Minister is an insult and attack on the National team itself, as the attention of the masses have been shifted to a very lame trend because of the Opposition’s cheap strategies.
