Day after anti-Muslim slogans were raised during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Swami Nareshanand, a priest travelling from Samastipur to attend a protest at Jantar Mantar was allegedly stabbed multiple times, while he was sleeping in the Dasna Devi Temple in Ghaziabad.
Dr. Iraj Raja, SP Rural Ghaziabad said, “We received information that a priest had been stabbed in Dasna area. The victim had travelled from Samastipur and was staying in the temple. Presently, he is receiving treatment and is out of danger. We are gathering evidence pertaining to the case and teams have been formed to investigate the case. All angles in the case are being probed.”
Swami Nareshanand had visited the temple to meet Swami Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, the convener of the Dasna Devi Temple and to participate in the protest at Jantar Mantar.
However, Narsinghanand claimed he was the intended target of the accused, “Who will harbour enmity against him (Nareshanand)? He had come to participate in the Jantar Mantar protest. Jihadis have enmity with me and they had come to kill me but unfortunately he was attacked.”
Yati Narsinghanand, has been embroiled in controversies multiple times. Earlier this year, a 14-year-old Muslim boy was rebuked by devotees for entering the premises of the temple. The display board to keep Muslims out of the temple was placed, after the Dasna Devi temple reported the instances of eve-teasing, and theft from the temple allegedly carried out by local Muslim lads.
Earlier, the temple administration had clearly said that the board which was installed around 7-8 years ago would not be removed at any cost. There had been incidents of molestation of women and girls visiting the temple, they had said. To stop anti-social elements of the particular community, the temple authorities have placed the board at entrance of the temple where it is clearly written, “The entry of Muslims is forbidden here.”
Swami Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati of the Dasna temple is leading a courageous fight against Islamists and their radical beliefs. Narsinghanand had demanded that, Hindus must have the right to comment on the founding principles of Islam and on the Prophet of Muslims as well, without fearing any backlash. Even though India is a country of free speech, radical Islamists released a fatwa to behead Swami Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati.
Thus, there is a threat to the life of Narsinghanand. Earlier this year, the Delhi Police had claimed that the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) planned an alleged plot to assassinate Yati Narsinghanand .

As per the reports by The Print, a police officer had stated, “The plan was to dress up like a Hindu priest to kill Yati Narsinghanand. The accused was told that the priest has insulted the Prophet, is anti-Muslim and has committed a crime for which he needs to be punished.”
Thus, it can be assumed that the accused had planned the attack on Yati Narsinghanand but stabbed Swami Nareshanand by mistake.
However, it is quite obvious that the attack in the temple premises was planned to retaliate . The protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, where the anti-Muslim slogans were being raised, allegedly led the accused to proceed with such awful action.
