Congress IT cell fan pages use Olympians’ names to strengthen their protests against farm laws. It’s all fake

Congress, Farm, Laws,

While the whole nation was celebrating the return of India in the medal score of the Hockey team after forty long years, Congress IT cell which has recruited five lakh social media warriors earlier this year, was busy spreading fake news about Indian Men’s Hockey Team Captain, Manpreet Singh.

A Facebook handle which goes by the name” With RG” posted – “Manpreet Singh Captain Hockey Team refused to accept Award Money from Modi Government until 3-Black Agriculture Laws are cancelled.” The post went viral as soon as it was posted. At the time of writing, the post had 1, 902 comments, 11, 609 likes and 1,053 comments. The page owner(s) provide an ‘official’ disclaimer that they are not an official page and are run only by the fans of Rahul Gandhi.

Manpreet Singh who is an avid Yoga practitioner and belongs to Mithapur village in Punjab which sent 3 players to Tokyo this year and has also been home to Padma Shri Pargat Singh, does not seem to have a political bone in his body if we go by his activities on social media. His Twitter account is full of retweets of congratulatory posts, in turn, thanking everyone who congratulated the National Hockey team including Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. A few days ago a telephonic conversation between him, Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and Coach Graham Reid went viral where he is thanking Mr Modi for his wishes and dedicated the Bronze medal to the nation. Up until now, there has been no statement in any public forum by Captain Manpreet about any of the farm laws as claimed by ‘Fan Page’ of Mr Rahul Gandhi.

Since the Modi Government emerged victorious in a 2014 General Election, Indians have finally started to realize that they were living in a “Semi-monarchial Democracy.” Along with other changes in different aspects of Indians’ daily lives, TOPS Scheme was launched in 2014 itself which led to India coming back with the highest ever medal summation of 7 medals from any Olympic. It is exactly the reason the Congress party got hypertension just after Neeraj Chopra won individual Gold for the first time in an individual Track and Field event. This was the latest nail in the slowly engulfing coffin of the Congress Party which is already sunk by the construction of Ram Mandir, failure of their stance on CAA and BJP successfully handling COVID crisis without making a big dent in the sovereign budget in spite of food subsidy and increase in MGNREGA budget.

Slowly dying controversy around the farm bill seems to be the last hope for congress to have at least an iota of relevance in the Indian public psyche. Its policy of minority appeasement at the cost of majority, constant corruption in sports’ governing bodies from last 70 years and filling every pillar of democracy with its stooges from last seventy years has made sure that it is not trusted and respected by an average Indian.

According to the World Trade Organization report, published in July, India ranked 9 worldwide, in terms of exporting its agricultural produce. It has been described as a ‘global back office’ by the WTO. This report was more than enough to put an end to the useless fear created by the Congress party on the impact of farm laws on the agricultural landscape of the country after farm laws were put to test.

Riled by India’s great agricultural success against its prediction and seeing Punjabi and Haryanvi players contributing to nation-building up on sporting potential rather than wasting their time and life in Khalistani movement and protests around the farm laws, Congress IT cell seems to be running on steroids and are doing whatever in their capacity to pit these Patriotic Sons of Soil against the nation. Congress has made a negligible contribution to India’s sporting legacy, though it did throw Indian sporting culture half a century back through its corruption. A country of 1.35 billion people winning seven medals after 74 years of freedom and we find that it was our best till date. Congress leaders should retrospect and reconstruct the agenda of the Congress rather than creating useless hurdles while the Nation is trying to move on without it.
