It looks like the Indian state of Kerala has taken it upon itself to derail India’s strenuous fight against Covid-19. India’s Covid tally reached a two-month high on Saturday as India reported 46,759 cases, given the infection surge in Kerala after it celebrated Onam earlier this month. The Kerala model has failed India’s resolute to end the woes of the suffering people. Owing to its botched-up covid strategy, the ruling communists of Kerala have drawn the ire of the people across India; however, the state has successfully managed to garner support from the Chinese communists.
In a shocking development, it was revealed on Thursday that China’s state-owned Huawei is actively sponsoring news articles lauding Kerala’s covid strategy against PM Modi’s covid plan on the central level. The article was published on Reuters with the heading “Kerala’s COVID-19 lessons for India and Modi’s government.” The propaganda article, written by Reuter’s Krishna Das, not only attempted to give a clean chit to the Kerala government but also propagated that the Kerala model may serve as a Covid management lesson for the Union government.
The article suggested that the Kerala Model could help India evade the third wave amidst the soaring infection numbers. The report quoted Kerala Health Minister Veena George as saying that “We do have a different model and our fatality rate shows our model is on the right track.” The article also argued that an efficient detection rate and its population density at more than twice the national average explain the high number of cases in Kerala.
However, despite much pomp and show for Kerala’s better monitoring and detecting capabilities against the virus, the article failed to explain how a devastating third wave in Kerala managed to get through a so-called invincible bulwark against the infection. Ironically, a state feared to be India’s epicentre of the third wave is being touted as a model to be emulated by the other states and the Union government.
The article cleverly missed the fact that the positivity rate in the state has touched nearly 16 per cent while the national average has already plummeted to less than 3 per cent. All other states in India, including Maharashtra, have managed to tame the infection surge after the second wave, but Kerala on the other hand has hit the third wave without overcoming the second one. Instead of daydreaming of emulating Kerala’s model in the whole country, the Reuters analysts should spare some time to peruse the Covid strategy of India’s highest populated state, Uttar Pradesh, which has successfully brought down the positivity rate to 0.02 per cent lately.
The other astonishing fact is that the Chinese government is rushing to rescue its comrades in India. The point that this propaganda piece was sponsored by none other than Huawei speaks vehemently of the fact that the Kerala government is being extended a helping hand at the behest of Chinese communists or perhaps China’s supreme leader Xi Jinping himself.

It looks like the Chinese government is paying its debt of gratitude to Kerala’s CM Pinarayi Vijayan, who has been sporadically accused of propagating the Chinese agenda owing to his ideological baggage. The CM chose to remain silent over China’s aggression in the Himalayas against Indian soldiers last year that left 20 Indian soldiers martyred. Moreover, the CM has constantly urged the Indian government to forge closer ties with communist China while shedding off the ties with the US altogether.
Huawei, at the behest of Chinese communists, is assisting CM Vijayan in whitewashing his crimes of mismanaging the pandemic. This blatant interfere by the Chinese company in India’s internal affairs is highly alarming and it should be dealt with heavy-handedly by the Central government.
