Kripashankar Singh, congressman who launched ‘26/11, RSS Ki Saazish’, is now in BJP

From Congress Mukt Bharat to Congress Yukt BJP, the saffron party has come a long way. Kripashankar Singh, a former Congress leader, infamously known for launching the book titled ‘26/11, RSS Ki Saazish’ alongside known anti-national senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh formally joined the BJP today (July 7) at party headquarters in Mumbai. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior leader Chandrakant Patil were present at his induction ceremony.

Kripashankar Singh had resigned from Congress in 2019 in the run-up to the state Assembly elections and ever since then, murmurs had been growing in pace that he could join BJP. Singh served as the Chief of Congress’ Mumbai unit from 2008 to 2012 and was also the minister of state for home under the Congress-NCP regime.

However, his induction in the party has not gone down well with the BJP supporters who believe that the party has become a retirement home for Congress and other opposition leaders who in their heydays missed no opportunity to target BJP, RSS and particularly Hindus.

The effect has been compounded as Kripashankar Singh was one of the few leaders that accepted the myth of Saffron terrorism and used it to put the blame for ghastly Mumbai terror attacks on RSS.

BJP has not learnt its lesson from the debacle of West Bengal where it admitted one turncoat after another and cornered the state unit. With elections to the richest municipal body in the country Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) scheduled to be held early next year in February and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government on the verge of a breakdown, it would have been advisable that BJP did not introduce rogue leaders like Kripashankar in the party.

Moreover, Kripashankar has had an illustrious history of finding himself at crossroads with the law. On March 2, 2012, assistant commissioner of police Suhas Rane, who was probing a Prevention of Corruption Act case, searched Singh’s house in Shree Sai Prasad Co-operative Housing Society at Service Road in Bandra (E).

During the search, the police found 214 intact 12bore DBBL gun cartridges, 172 intact .32 bore revolver cartridges, 09 intact 7.65bore pistol cartridges and 65 intact 8mm rifle cartridges.

One of the charge sheets filed by a special investigation team in 2015 against Kripashankar claimed that the former Congress leader and his family had amassed Rs 95.03 crore, of which Rs 18.96 crore was allegedly disproportionate. However, the case was ultimately dropped as the then BJP government in the state remained lethargic on the prosecution.

From a vegetable seller to a top Congress leader to a Hindu hater, legitimizing Saffron terrorism, Kripashankar has had quite a journey. However, it is pity that Mumbai BJP cannot channel its new line of leaders to the forefront and fight Uddahv and his lackeys. Instead, it has to use destructive turncoats to solidify its case.
