While the Uttar Pradesh government brings in the revolutionary UP Population Control draft bill to control the burgeoning and overflowing population of the state – the usual suspects, using the crutches of religion have started propagating their archaic thoughts to de-rail the progress. Reportedly, Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq made a controversial remark stating that bringing the Population Bill was going against the will of ‘Rab’ (Allah).
“BJP has failed to run the government. It wants to confuse the public by bringing new laws. Allah has created the world. How many people will be born in the world is in the hands of nature. One should not collide with nature. Birth is the law of Allah and it is not right to collide with nature. It will only harm,” said Shafiqur Rahman Barq.
Barq didn’t stop here and continued with his absurd reasoning to protest against the Bill. The Sambhal MP remarked that if population was reduced, India would face difficulty in a war against any enemy nation.
“What would happen if the population decreased drastically and there was a war with some country? Messing with nature is not wise, it will only cause harm. Who can stop what Allah wants to create? He will be born. Whether poor or rich, everyone gets food by the mercy of Allah. There will be no benefit from the population law.” added Barq.
This is not the first time that Barq has caused controversy with his radical thoughts. After taking the oath as Lok Sabha MP in 2019, Shafiqur Rahman Barq said, “Jahan tak Vande Mataram ka taaluq hai, it is against Islam we cannot follow it (As far as Vande Mataram is concerned, it is against Islam we cannot follow it)”. His statement was met with chants of “Vande Mataram” and “Jai Shree Ram” by several leaders in the Parliament.
