Congress has always been in the limelight for crossing the line when it comes to attacking opponents. While trying to demean PM Modi and the government, the opposition even forgets morality and ridicules the achievement of those, who in their respective fields, go out of the way to make our country proud. Recently, Congress promoted a derogatory cartoon of the controversial daily Dainik Bhaskar which ridiculed the achievements of Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, the weightlifter who won India a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Reportedly, India’s 21-year long wait for a medal in Olympics in the weightlifting category came to an end, when Mirabai Chanu clinchéd silver medal in the 49 kg category. The 26-year-old lifted a total of 202 kg to better Karnam Malleswari’s effort in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Karnam Malleswari, World Championship Winner and Asian Games silver medalist at that time, became the first Indian woman to win a bronze medal in the 69kg category, leading India to win the first medal at an individual level in the Olympics. Likewise, Mirabai also won a gold medal at the World Championship in 2017 and went a step ahead of Karnam to win a silver medal in her category at the Tokyo Olympics.
But the Congress, reflective of its own individuality, yet again found an excuse to use the achievements of the athlete to launch an attack on the Modi Government. The opposition shamelessly ridiculed the Olympic winner with its derogatory comments. Congress not only targeted her achievements but also made comments on the weight of the Olympic athlete. These kinds of acts are proof of the filthy politics opposition plays. Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala retweeted the Dainik Bhaskar’s extremely derogatory and shoddy cartoon to corner the Modi government over the rising petrol prices, and captioned it, ‘Mehengai Maar Gayi’

Blind in the hatred towards Modi, the anti-nationalist party has completely lost track. A derogatory comment on the weight of a woman is completely off the track and shows the insensitivity of the party towards women. Rather than celebrating the proud moment for India, the opposition chose to sensationalise it with filthy politics.
Talking about petrol price, it is increasing due to two reasons – to bridge the economic loss due to the lockdown caused by the coronavirus and due to the obstinacy of the states not to take petrol and its related products out of GST. But Congress has nothing to do with the facts. The only that matters for the party is the ‘Break India Campaign’.
However, the tradition of ridiculing the achievements of India and its people in Congress is nothing new. The controversial statements by the party have always been the talk of the town. In 2016, Rahul Gandhi had gone on to support those raising anti-national slogans at the JNU. The same year, Rahul Gandhi’s anti-India stance got exposed once again when he asked for proof of the Surgical Strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The former Congress President Rahul Gandhi had also drawn fire for his “khoon ki dalali” remark about PM Modi following the surgical strikes. While the surgical strikes were a testament to the valour and capability of the Indian armed forces, Rahul Gandhi and Congress questioned the authenticity of the operations carried out by India across the Line of Control (LoC).
Thus, it is quite visible that opposition has always echoed objectionable anti-India and anti-Hindu remarks and such tweets and comments should not come as a surprise. The way derogatory cartoon of a controversial newspaper has been used by the Congress party to humiliate PM Modi, it becomes quite evident that the party is willing to go to any length to project its hatred.
