Showing acute lack of self-awareness, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to formally institutionalise her bloodlust poll slogan ‘Khela Hobe’ as ‘Khela Hobe Diwas’ in the state calendar. According to an ANI report, Mamata Banerjee in the state assembly remarked, “People have appreciated ‘Khela Hobe’, so we will have ‘Khela Hobe Diwas’.”

The date of the event hasn’t been finalised yet but the fact that Mamata unashamedly using the slogan to rub it on the faces of the public after indulging in post-poll violence is truly astonishing. A despot chosen by the people of West Bengal might appear as an oxymoron statement but this is what has transpired in Bengal after the assembly election results were announced on May 2.

Since then, the non-Trinamool Congress (TMC), especially the BJP voters and state unit workers have been dragged out of their homes and offices, killed, murdered and lynched in broad daylight.

As reported by TFI, Mamata Banerjee, during the election trail, had insinuated that BJP supporters will be pleading with folded hands after she comes to power and the central forces move back.

Mamata Banerjee had said, “I keep knowledge of every inch of the elections. After the election, the security personnel sent by the central government will go back, but if our government is formed then the BJP supporters will plead with folded hands for the central security forces to be stationed for a few more days so that they (BJP supporters) could be saved.”

As reported by TFI, such has been the reign of terror of Mamata that two high profile Supreme Court judges recused themselves from hearing cases against the West Bengal government, within a week’s time, without citing any reason.

While the SC folds, the Calcutta High Court and its Justice Bindal have been steadfast in defiance against Mamata. The Court last month delivered a major setback to Mamata Banerjee by turning down the West Bengal government’s request of recalling or modifying its directive where the court asked the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to examine all cases of alleged human rights violations cases during the post-poll violence in the State.

Whether it be the post-poll violence inflicted upon people associated with the BJP or the party’s supporters, or now, those being subjected to unspeakable cruelties due to a complete breakdown of law and order in the state – the TMC regime’s alleged ineptitude to prevent such crimes and perhaps, culpability in them has ensured that the lives of Bengalis are made a living hell, with a large section of the populace living alike a refugee in their own state.
