In the aftermath of forced conversion and marriage of Sikh girls in Jammu and Kashmir, some of the highest bodies in the Sikh community had taken a lenient view of the menace of Love Jihad. However, a delegation of Sikhs on Tuesday, taking a volta face, urged the centre to act against the forced conversions and take necessary steps. The delegate led by former BJP MLA RP Singh met Minister of State (Home) G Kishan Reddy and submitted a memorandum.

Meanwhile, RP Singh stated, “The delegation submitted a memorandum about the alleged forced conversion and wedding of Sikh women in Kashmir. I will discuss the matter with the Union home minister on the action required to be taken,”
As reported by TFI, rather than freeing and making the converted girls and the families sit across the table, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), one of the leading voices in the incident, seemed more intent on making sure that the relations between Sikhs and Muslims stayed in place.
SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur had remarked, “As Sikhs, it is the family’s duty to educate and encourage their children to follow the Sikh way of life. Given that in a democracy one can practice their religion, no one should force anyone to convert. We as the SGPC can preach about the religion, but no one can force another to adhere to doctrines of a religion.”
It is pertinent to note that Bibi Jagir Kaur has shown glimpses that she is a closeted Khalistani and a hardliner. As reported by TFI, on the 37th anniversary of Operation Blue Star earlier this month, Kaur had justified the chanting of Pro-Khalistani slogans at the Golden Temple.
“This is an expression of the Sikh youth’s ‘josh’ (vehemence). As Singh Sahib (Jathedar) stated the youngsters demonstrated their sentiments and healed their pain on the occasion,” she was quoted as saying,

During the anti-CAA protests and the farmers’ protest, members of the Sikh community by and large sided with the Islamists, often inviting them to the Gurudwaras to recite the prayers, served them biryanis and gave mind-numbingly tepid slogans like Sikh-Muslim unity.
Ever since then, the Khalistanis who have dominated the space, often masquerading as protestors have toed the line of the Islamists. After all, a big chunk of funding for Khalistanis comes straight from Pakistan and its notorious terrorist elements.
Thus, the unnatural solidarity with the Islamists when girls of the Sikh community were converted was something that was difficult to comprehend from a neutral perspective. Fortunately, some Sikh groups have course-corrected and started raising the issue more prominently.
Well let them enjoy the fruits of their unity. They are grown ups to decide their consequences of their unity.
