The crucial Uttar Pradesh elections are slated to be conducted early next year. Expectedly, the political temperatures in the state are rising. The opposition, meanwhile, is beginning to craft a narrative which it hopes will benefit it tremendously. However, as luck would have it, both instances of fake news and misinformation related to Uttar Pradesh directly have now been exposed for what they are – opposition propaganda. First, the entire ‘eureka’ moment which opposition parties in UP and across India at large had with the fake ‘Ram Mandir scam’ bogey. Then, a Muslim man’s beard being chopped off and him being forced to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’ was widely publicised.

Here too, rising Hindu extremism was blamed. As it turns out, the Muslim wizard was beaten by his co-religionists, and the claim of him being forced to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’ was fake from the word go. Interestingly, Abdul Samad – the “victim” made this outrageous claim on a campus which had the portrait of none other than the former chief minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav in the background.

Now, the point which we are making is very simple. Bhagwan Shri Ram seems to be forming the centre of the opposition’s tirade against the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh, led by Yogi Adityanath. The opposition is trying to carve the image that the BJP, in fact, is not as ‘Hindu’ as other parties are. In fact, opposition parties of Uttar Pradesh, led by the likes of the SP, are trying to establish ownership over Shri Ram – like that is ever possible.

The fundamental premise of such thinking is that they feel the Hindu voters of Uttar Pradesh are disenchanted with the BJP government. They might be angry with the BJP to an extent for a variety of reasons – as is their right in a democracy, but to suggest that they are infuriated with the saffron party because it has not done enough for Hindus and for the fulfilment of civilisational dues is infantile, at best.

The imaginative ‘Ram Mandir Scam’ was an attempt at driving a wedge between the BJP and its Hindu voter base. However, it has failed magnanimously. TFI had on Monday debunked the lies of AAP leader Sanjay Singh and SP leader Pawan Pandey when they used the old price of the property, agreed years before the deal was finalised to portray that the ultimate price of the temple land had been inflated by several crores.

Simultaneously, the opposition parties are also trying to create a perception that the BJP and its supporters are misusing the chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and weaponizing it against Muslims. Since such attempts to project BJP’s supporters as ‘Hindu extremists’ are founded on a bunch of lies, they have been exposed even prior to their true potential being reached.

The BJP, meanwhile, will be strengthened. The lies of the opposition parties and Islamists have been uncovered, and whatever tricks they have up their sleeves for the near future will be countered and foiled as well. Yogi Adityanath will emerge victorious because the opposition parties decided to gift Uttar Pradesh to the BJP on a golden platter with their childish propaganda.
