Muslim miscreants openly molest Hindu women in a Bareilly village, police does nothing and now Hindus are forced to leave

Days after Hindus in the Noorpur village of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh were forced to put up ‘On Sale’ sign in front of their homes and flee the village, owing to the harassment meted by the minority community, a similar incident has emerged from Izzat Nagar area of Bareilly.

According to an Amar Ujala report, a young woman in the village has accused a Muslim man of molesting her by entering her house. The report states that despite the girl and family lodging the complaint, the police is yet to take any concrete action against the accused. The lackadaisical attitude of the authorities has bolstered the confidence of perpetrators of the minority community who are constantly on the prowl to harass Hindu girls. Consequently, the Hindu families are selling their property and leaving the village in hordes.

A Zee News report also remarked that Hindus were putting up ‘on sale’ signs outside their homes and leaving the village. “A boy named Anees came near me. Started misbehaving and doing indecent acts. He was closing my mouth and not letting me speak,” said one of the victims.

Déjà vu – First Noorpur, now Bareilly

Reported by TFI, on May 26, when a baraat procession of a villager named Omprakash and his daughters was passing through the Noorpur village near the mosque, some miscreants of the Muslim community came out and started pelting stones on the procession, vandalising it and injuring ‘baraatis’ in the process.

“We were intercepted by people from the minority community; they objected to the procession. Our community has faced oppression on many occasions — they try and stop our wedding processions. When we tried to reason, they attacked and beat us. It was humiliating to face this one on my daughter’s wedding day. I also received injuries,” he said.

Troubled by the nuisance of the hoodlums of the ‘minority’ community, the Hindus including Dalits have been forced to put up ‘House for Sale’ boards in front of their homes.

Some media reports had quoted the villagers as saying that the people of the Muslim community also pressurise the Hindus to convert into their faith. It is the conversion that has allowed the traditionally Hindu dominated village to be overpopulated by the Muslim community. There are three mosques and a big madrasa in a village which has sprung into existence only recently.

While the news of the exodus of Hindu families from the Noorpur had barely died down, an All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader named Syed Nazim Ali has sown fresh seeds of communal discontentment by threatening that no ‘baraat’ procession will be allowed in the village.

“Namaz will take place. And yes, we will not let you (Hindus) take out wedding processions without permission. If you carry out wedding processions without permission, we will not let you do it. Do whatever you want, we will not let you do it,” said the radical leader.

The Yogi administration needs to pull up its socks as such incidents are happening routinely and with an alarming frequency across the state. If the authorities do not step in, villages like Noorpur and a suburban town like Izzat Nagar will continue to face harassment at the hands of the privileged minority community.
