The Trinamool Congress is not just targeting BJP workers and supporters, apart from all opposition party activists in West Bengal, but is also hounding individuals who dare reveal gory details about the alleged misdeeds of TMC workers since Sunday. The TMC on Sunday managed to secure a landslide victory in West Bengal. Ever since, mass violence against opposition party workers and supporters, particularly BJP activists has been reported from the state. However, being the undemocratic regime that has once again come to rule West Bengal, anyone even reporting the atrocities being committed in the state has now become worthy to be hounded by the ruling party and its ‘police force’.
In line with the same, India Today executive editor Deep Halder’s tweet quoting BJP officials regarding the claimed gangrape of two party workers in Bengal’s Birbhum district has now been flagged as ‘FAKE’ by the West Bengal Police. Halder had tweeted that BJP’s women poll agents were gangraped and that many were molested in Birbhum district. Interestingly, he did not claim himself that the workers were gangraped, but had simply quoted the claim made by the BJP’s Bengal state unit.
Too many disturbing pics and videos coming out. Hope peace prevails and sanity returns.

That did not stop the West Bengal police from going on to term Deep Halder’s tweet ‘fake’. As done mostly by the West Bengal police, a tweet was put out via their official account to simply claim that the entire tweet of Halder was fake. They even captioned it with #FakeNewsAlert. Interestingly, the picture of the alleged victim of gangrape has also been going viral on Twitter and other social media platforms, although West Bengal police continues to maintain a stoic social media silence on the same.

What the Bengal BJP is alleging is too serious to be ignored. Murders, molestations, rapes. Heard some TMC leaders say it is the BJP that is attacking the TMC. The violence must stop immediately and then these charges, counter charges probed.

After the post went viral on social media and attracted many comments, Birbhum police chief Nagendra Nath Tripathi said a probe had started to find whether the incident had happened. “We immediately started an investigation and spoke to Tarakeshwar Saha, the BJP candidate from Nanoor, and many others in the area to know whether any such reports were there. Finally, we came to know that it was fake news and done with an intention to spread violence and unrest in the area.”
Liberals have been taking the word of Tripathi to be the gospel truth. The reason for this blind faith in the Birbhum police chief, you may ask? That he has been appointed by the “Election Commission”. If the police force of any BJP ruled state were to dismiss such claims without sufficient and thorough probe, we all know how democracy would have been declared dead in the country.
Meanwhile, if the West Bengal police flagging Halder’s tweet was not enough, Derek O’Brien, a TMC MP and quiz master took to threatening the India Today editor. In a tweet, he declared, “Don’t EVER try this again. You or anyone else. This time caught red-handed. Filthy RUMOR MONGER and Bengal hater. Your publishers @HarperCollinsIN and your employers @indiatoday should be ashamed of you.”

Among other minions who seem to have resorted to ranting against the BJP and its supporters for daring to speak out against the atrocities committed against them was Mahua Moitra.
To @BJP’s fake troll army busy disseminating a nationwide fake news campaign on how WB is burning. It is not.
Stop the lies. It cost you Bengal. Will cost you India next.

Multiple BJP workers and supporters have fled the state of West Bengal for Assam. Over 450 people are being provided refuge in Assam’s Dhubri. They fear persecution in their home state, and visuals of mass violence in West Bengal has only exacerbated their fears. The BJP has claimed that the numbers of people fleeing Bengal out of fear of the TMC is in the thousands.
