Only in Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal can one openly threaten the Governor and escape scot free. As Mamata’s goons spread terror in the minds of people of Bengal especially those who voted for the BJP, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee has claimed that his party will send West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar to jail once he retires.
In what reveals to the extent of hooligans and hoodlums have gone on to occupy important positions in Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee stooped to a new low as he resorted to a language which is befitting of a street thug who picks pockets for a living rather than a Member of the Parliament. Enraged by the arrest of his colleagues, Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee who were nabbed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Narada scam, Kalyan Banerjee said, “I know no criminal proceeding can be initiated against the governor but I will request each and everyone to lodge complaints at the concerned police stations wherever the governor has provoked violence, dividing religion…a case [against Jagdeep Dhankhar] can be started the day he retires.”
Banerjee who was speaking to reporters in Hooghly district, urged the TMC supporters to lodge complaints against Governor Dhankar en masse so that the complaints “can be taken up” for legal action, as and when he ceases to be the governor. Banerjee said, “So that he can be lodged in the Presidency Jail where he sent the five leaders.”

Reacting to Banerjee’s threat, Jagdeep Dhankar tweeted, “He is senior functionary @AITCofficial @MamataOfficial He is senior parliamentarian @LokSabhaSectt He is senior advocate @barcouncilindia @barandbench Just stunned but leave the matter to sound discretion of cultured people of West Bengal and media.”

However, Kalyan Banerjee didn’t stop there as he also claimed that post the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, several BJP leaders along with Governor Jagdeep Dhankar would be behind bars.
Credit where due, it is refreshing to see the TMC not giving a free hand to its goons and supporters to ensure Governor Dhankar meets the same fate as that of scores of BJP workers and supporters. Perhaps TMC realises that a deadly attack on Governor Dhankar will invite global criticism along with President’s rule and hence has chosen the gentleman’s way of lodging multiple complaints so as to ensure that Dhankar spends the rest of his life in jail once he retires for his audacity to question their supreme leader, Mamata Banerjee.
