Over the past few years, Bahujan Samajwadi Party Supremo Mayawati has been constantly breaking away from the Opposition parties as she aims to give rise to a new opposition which would be the first one to slam the Central government should they err, and not deter from praising the Central government when it takes a good step. Now, the former UP CM has come down heavily on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal as she slammed him for doing “theatrics” over the migrant crisis.
The former UP Chief Minister, while alleging that Delhi CM and other state governments are busy in theatrics, took to Twitter to say that, “The Delhi chief minister, with folded hands, urging people not to flee Delhi is a drama which was enacted during COVID-19 earlier. Now, the same is being seen in Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab. Many people from Ludhiana in Punjab are fleeing. This is extremely sad.”
Additionally, Mayawati also advocated for providing economic assistance to the poor while administering free vaccines to everyone, especially the poor, Dalits and tribals.
Earlier in April, Mayawati urged the Central and State governments to provide food and accommodation to migrant labourers. “I appeal to state governments to make arrangements for free food and accommodation for migrant labourers and workers who are planning to return home amid a spike of COVID-19. I have also urged the Centre to provide every kind of support to the states,” said Mayawati while speaking to ANI.

In a break from the Opposition line, Mayawati praised the Centre’s move to organise the four-day-long ‘Tika Utsav’, a special vaccination drive launched which aimed to ramp up inoculations against the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. She said, “The special campaign to celebrate the introduction of vaccines is a good thing. But it would have been more appropriate if this festival was celebrated by administering vaccine doses to the poor and needy free of cost.”
Mayawati is emerging as a fresh opposition face who offers constructive criticism which is a much-needed break from the opposition propaganda who just want to pull down the Modi government no matter what the cost.
