Bollywood actor and producer Farhan Akhtar last week (Saturday) received the first jab of the coronavirus vaccine at the newly inaugurated vaccine drive-in centre at the Andheri sports complex. The actor who is hyper-active on social media platforms took to Twitter to happily announce the inoculation and sang songs of praises for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). However, turns out, Farhan allegedly received the dose at the vaccine centre that was meant for senior citizens above 60.

“Got my first jab today via drive-through at Andheri sports complex. Thank you to @mybmc& @MumbaiPolice for the streamlined system. To those waiting their turn, the process does take 2-3 hours (for now) so please be patient. Carry water & a snack, if need be. Stay safe,” Farhan Akhtar tweeted

According to several media reports, the Andheri sports complex vaccine centre was launched for people above 60. An Indian Express report quoting civic officials stated that the drive-in centre at the Andheri sports complex was yet to be started.

After receiving flak from the public, Akhtar took to Twitter once again to remark that the vaccine centre was meant for people above 45+. However, when you take a look at BMC’s Twitter handle, one of the tweets states that the drive-in facilities could be accessed by specially-abled people above the age of 45 and that too for their second dose.

“Drive In Facility For 45+ specially-abled .@mybmcWardGN has started a new vaccination centre at Kohinoor Parking Lot, JK Sawant Marg, Dadar(W), for 45+ citizens coming for their 2nd dose of #Covishield Starts at 10 am tomorrow & has 7 vaccination rooms.” The BMC tweet read.

Farhan Akhtar is definitely above 45, and 47, to be precise but he doesn’t exactly fit the bill of a specially-abled person despite his acute lack of self-awareness, and yet he managed to receive the first jab of the vaccine when BMC clearly stated that it was meant for those looking for the second dose.

As reported by TFI, a couple of days ago, Farhan’s father Javed Akhtar posted a message where he also showered praises on BMC for its efforts. It appears that Uddhav Thackeray with clockwork accuracy returned the favour by allowing Farhan

“I believe others need to learn a lesson or two from the government of Maharashtra and Bombay Municipal corporation that are fighting with the menace of COVID with tremendous competence,” tweeted Javed Akhtar.

Farhan Akhtar is the new age woke Bollywood Social Justice Warrior who constantly sermonises the government on every single issue under the sun. But when it comes to putting money where his mouth is, the likes of Farhan Akhtar usually fail. While ordinary, eligible folks are yet to be inoculated, Farhan hogged the space using his reach and power. So next time when Farhan preaches someone on Twitter, understand where he is coming from – a place of utmost privilege and class.
