At a time when senior BJP leaders are crisscrossing the nation in order to strengthen the party’s base and performance in the five assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi is busy interviewing foreign experts. In a desperate bid to discredit the Modi government, Rahul Gandhi ended up exposing his gross incompetence and lack of knowledge as the Congress scion stated that if he were the PM, he would “focus on jobs and not growth”.
In a statement that threatens to redefine the field of economics, Rahul Gandhi during an interaction with Nicholas Burns from the Harvard Kennedy School in the US claimed that had he been Prime Minister, he would have focused more on creating jobs than purely “growth-centric” policies.
The dynast, while responding to a question, said, “I would move from just a growth-centric idea to a job-centric idea. I would say, we need growth but we are going to do everything to push production and job creation and value addition.”
He added, “Currently if look at our growth, the type of relationship that should be there between our growth and job creation, between value addition, between production is not there. The Chinese lead value addition… I have never met a Chinese leader who says to me ‘I’ve got a job-creation problem.”
Sensing the positive outlook of the Indian economy and the high growth rate predicted by various global agencies, Gandhi attempted to shift goalposts as he said, “I am not interested in 9 per cent economic growth if I don’t see job numbers right next to it.”
Only in Gandhi’s wonderland would job creation be possible without the growth of the national economy. It would be interesting to see the ecosystem’s notable economists defending and justifying Gandhi’s logic-defying statements.
For the past few years, the Indian National Congress has no real roadmap for the economy apart from doling out freebies. Rahul Gandhi’s promise of bringing NYAY during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was yet another example of how Rahul Gandhi is absolute inept when it comes to the Indian economy. NYAY would never be feasible in a country like India.

In the handful of states where Congress is in power, the only thing that the party can promise when it comes to economic empowerment is the waiver of loans which is only a short term solution and in the long term, would cause irreparable damage to the country’s economy. What is worse is that the party continues to struggle to fulfil its promise of loan waiver as it realises the pitfalls of such a promise after coming to power.
This interview further highlighted the fact that Rahul Gandhi is neither interested nor cut-out for the hustle and bustle of Indian politics as he also blamed his successive failures on India’s institutions. A failed leader, Rahul Gandhi is a headless chicken on the road to nowhere as INC hurtles towards an inglorious end.
