After Mamata Banerjee sent out an SOS call to the Opposition leaders to help her defeat the BJP, Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan was quick to jump on the bandwagon to help Mamata in her “lonely” fight against the BJP. However, it is safe to say that things are not going to plans for Bachchan and Mamata, as the former is being lambasted on social media after a video emerged of Jaya Bachchan arrogantly pushing away a man who was trying to take a selfie with her during one of her roadshows in West Bengal.
The Rajya Sabha MP who was donning a Samajwadi red cap and wearing a mask, could be seen waving to the crowd in the video which has went viral, when suddenly a man came into the picture as he attempted to take a selfie from his phone.

Displaying her umpteen arrogance, a visibly miffed Bachchan pushed the man away and proceeded to continue with her rally. Unsurprisingly, she was lambasted for her arrogance on Twitter.
Jaya Bachchan who is known to be perpetually angry is in Bengal to help out Mamata in her battle against the BJP. Ironically, in Mamata’s playbook, Bachchan qualifies as an ‘outsider’ – a term used by Mamata to hit out at the BJP during the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections.
Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in what appeared to be a desperate call for help dispatched a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, DMK president MK Stalin, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Odisha Chief Minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik, YSR Congress head and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti and CPI (ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya.
In the letter, Mamata claims that the BJP wants to establish a “one-party authoritarian rule” in India while reducing the state governments to “mere municipalities”. She urged the 14 opposition leaders to come together post the Assembly elections in a bid to counter the rampant BJP.
Keeping scant regard for the underlying irony, Mamata in her three-page letter expressed concern about the “series of assaults” by the BJP and the Union government on “democracy and Constitutional Federalism”.
As Mamata hurtles towards an inglorious defeat, her friends in the Opposition camp are not only unable to help Mamata save in what appears to be a lost cause but through their shenanigans are only causing more damage to Mamata and her campaign.
