Former SP MP thanks Priyanka Gandhi for helping his wife with Remdesivir injections. Was Congress secretly hoarding them?

At a time when the people of India face an excruciating struggle to get hold of Remdesivir injection vials, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has gone on to distribute the crucial doses to former Samajwadi Party MP Shahid Siddiqui and his wife. Apparently, Priyanka Vadra was kind enough to give up Remdesivir injections, meant for former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, to Shahid Siddiqui’s wife. By helping Siddiqui’s wife with the two potentially life-saving Remdesivir vials, Priyanka Gandhi earned quite a lot of praise from the benefactor’s husband. Siddiqui could not contain his glee and went on to say rather too much.

In a tweet on Tuesday morning, Shahid Siddiqui said, “Last night,(two) Remdesivir injections were given for my wife by Priyanka Gandhi and (two) injections by Shri Mukul Sharma (MLA). I am grateful to both of them, they are quietly helping many patients. In this time of crises, we rise above all differences to help each other. May God bless them.”

In a tweet last night, Siddiqui had said, “Shrimati Priyanka Gandhi read my tweet for help and came forward to provide Remdesivir, which she had got for Rahul Gandhi but didn’t require. I remain eternally grateful to Priyanka Ji for her humane gesture. She didn’t want me to but I had to publicly thank her.”

Why did Priyanka Gandhi not want to be thanked publicly for helping a family in need with Remdesivir doses? The answer seems simple. Remdesivir is a prescription-only drug, and will not be prescribed to people who do not desperately require it. Since Priyanka Gandhi seems to have told Siddiqui that Rahul Gandhi did not require the doses, the question which needs to be asked is this: How did the Gandhi family procure Remdesivir doses if nobody required them?

Questions are now being posed to the Gandhi family, which are indeed tough in nature. The Congress is being asked how its foremost leader got old of prescription-only drugs if Rahul Gandhi never required them. This has also sparked speculation of Congress, in fact, possibly indulging in the hoarding of the critical drug. At this moment, nothing else seems to be justifying the need of Priyanka Gandhi explicitly telling Shahid Siddiqui to not credit or thank her publicly for helping his wife with the Remdesivir doses.

Earlier last week, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had launched an attack against former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and accused him of committing a “crime against humanity” by hoarding Remdesivir injections.“At a time when people from all across the country are pleading to provide remdesivir injections and are struggling to get even one vial, this BJP leader is committing a crime against humanity by hoarding the drug,” Gandhi said in a tweet. She shared a video of Fadnavis ‘arguing’ with police officials who have unlawfully detained the director of medicine company Bruck Pharma over suspicions that the firm was going to export the antiviral drug despite a ban.
