The polling for phase-3 of the West Bengal Assembly elections is slated to begin tomorrow. However, a day before that, the Election Commission has given a scathing reply to CM Mamata Banerjee by deflating her bogus claim of centrally deployed forces not allowing people to vote. In its response to Mamata’s letter, the EC has said that allegations made against Border Security Force (BSF) jawans deployed at the Boyal polling station in Nandigram are “far from the truth”.
“There is no evidence at all to suggest that the BSF jawans who were deployed at the polling station, indulged in any inappropriate behaviour. Moreover, the complaint that they did not allow the voters to go inside the booth is far from the truth.” said the EC.
The EC explained that a mock drill was conducted at 5:30 AM on the day of the election at the booth. According to protocol, the polling agents of BJP, CPI(M) and an independent candidate were present inside the booth. However, the TMC polling agent never showed up. “The ECI cannot force anyone unwilling to work as a polling agent,” the Commission said in its letter.
Relevant CCTV footage is available with the Commission to prove that there was no wrongdoing in the process, said the EC.
Rounding up the state CM for her false claims, the EC signed off the letter saying the allegations made by Mamata were factually incorrect and devoid of any substance.
“It is self-evident from the perusal of all the reports that the allegations mentioned in your hand-written note are factually incorrect, without any empirical evidence whatsoever and devoid of substance.”
On April 1, during the phase-2 polling, Mamata Banerjee went inside the Boyal poll booth in Nandigram and camped there for a good hour or two and created a mindless ruckus. Claiming that the central forces were not allowing the locals to cast vote, Mamata sitting in the booth called up the governor of the state and asked him to take cognisance of the issue. Importantly enough, the entire PR stunt was elaborately staged in front of the media cameras and Mamata completed the entire scene in one take.

Mamata has not been able to unleash her TMC goons in the presence of the armed forces to rig the polling booths and force the public to vote for her party. As reported by TFI, her desperation was evident when she threatened the non-TMC voters of the state by saying she will come after them, once the forces retreat.
“I keep knowledge of every inch of the elections. After the election, the security personnel sent by the central government will go back, but if our government is formed then the BJP supporters will plead with folded hands for the central security forces to be stationed for a few more days so that they (BJP supporters) could be saved,” said Mamata Banerjee.
Mamata is pulling such antics to keep the attention away from the imminent crushing defeat that is coming her way. By constantly besmirching the central deployed forces, Mamata is showing that she can go to any untoward lengths if it helps her in achieving her political ambitions.
