With Hemant Soren at the helm of the affairs for more than a year, Jharkhand is being pushed back to the bad old days. Increase in conversion activities to Naxalism, the state is witnessing the chaos that the previous BJP government tried to end. 3 Jharkhand Jaguar force jawans were killed in a landmine blast set up by the Maoists. Jharkhand Jaguar is a special task force (STF) of the Jharkhand Police and has played a very important role in ending the Naxalite and Maoist violence in the state.
As per a report by Hindustan Times, the landmine blast was triggered by the Maoists when a joint team of the district police, CRPF and Jharkhand Jaguar were on a search operation early in the morning in and around Langi hills, the site of four encounters last month. The Maoists set up the mine blast in which 3 JJ jawans were killed and many police officials got injured.
“Three JJ AG-11 jawans have died while two others have been seriously injured in IED blasts triggered by Maoist in Langi jungle under Toklo PS in West Singhbhum district this morning. Two other jawans have also sustained minor splinter injuries and have been shifted to Chakradharpur hospital while two seriously injured jawans have been airlifted to Medical Hospital in Ranchi. Encounter with the Maoists is currently on,” said Niraj Sinha, Jharkhand director general of police (DGP).
Under the inefficient leadership of Hemant Soren, the state is slipping into anarchy. Last year, a local BJP leader and representative of Chatra MP in Latehar district, Jaivardhan Singh, was murdered in plain sight.
In the last few months, the Naxals’ movements in the state have been increasing steadily, and it appears to be the JMM alliance is sitting quietly while the red extremism continues to fester in the state.
Jharkhand was in the news for all the wrong reasons in January last year too when the Pathalgadi supporters beheaded seven tribals, who were allegedly against the Pathalgadi movement in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Seven people were taken hostage and later killed, allegedly by the armed supporters of the Pathalgadi movement. The bodies were retrieved only three days after the incident from Burugulikera village, where they were dumped in a forest.
The killings were said to be a result of the fallout of an old rivalry between the supporters of the Pathalgadi movement and those against it.

Several experts have raised their concerns regarding the Pathalgadi movement and the way the tribal people are now donning AK- 47s is concerning. The movement is getting radicalised and violent day by day alluding towards a possible Maoist influence. Some reports have even connected the tribals associated with this movement to the illegal opium trade.
Hemant Soren’s ingenuity regarding restoring the law and order can be gauged from the fact that in December 2019, just a few weeks after swearing-in as the Chief Minister, he decided to withdraw sedition cases registered against the supporters of the Pathalgadi movement—presumably to not anger his vote bank.
In order to appease his vote bank and create a loyal base, Soren is also asking for a separate religious code for the tribals, even though most of the tribals identify themselves as Hindus.
The unholy trifecta of JMM, Congress and RJD is pillaging the state, destroying the state’s core values whilst the criminals and Naxals are going around torturing and killing innocent people in the state who raise their voices against these oppressing forces. The state machinery seems to be collapsed and red extremism is on an upswing and consequently, Jharkhand is staring at a bleak future.
