Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, is facing the fire as many of the party leaders are not satisfied with his performance in the last four years. Moreover, there were reports of his family’s interference in the administration. Preparations for the Kumbh Mela, which is scheduled in Haridwar this year, have also not been satisfactory and many leaders have complained about this to the party leadership regarding Trivendra Singh Rawat’s performance.
Therefore, Trivendra Singh Rawat has come to Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Party President JP Nadda and National General Secretary (organisation) B L Santosh over the issue.
Previously BJP General Secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh, who were sent as political observers over the situation in the state, have highlighted very serious concerns in the administration of Trivendra Singh Rawat.
According to various reports, some MLAs and Ministers are so angry with the chief minister that they have been camping in Delhi for the last few days.
In February last year, tfipost wrote an analysis of the CMs of BJP who are suffering from Raghubar Das syndrome (leaders who do not popularise their work and are seen as arrogant by the people) and could lose power just like the erstwhile Jharkhand CM, who could not save even his own seat, and Trivendra Singh Rawat was in the list along with few other names like Jairam Thakur of Himachal Pradesh.

Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat is also suffering from the Das syndrome. His government has been in the media limelight for all the wrong reasons like the government takeover of many Temple’s trusts. His government’s policies are also not very popular and he is seen as an extremely arrogant man by the people of the state as well as other party leaders, just like Raghubar Das. His government is heading the same way as the Jharkhand government and might lose power just like BJP losing the state of Jharkhand.
Next year, Uttarakhand assembly elections are scheduled and the BJP would not like to risk losing the state. Therefore, Rawat, who has taken many good decisions but is not a popular face and seen as arrogant, might be removed from the post before the 2022 assembly election.

In the last few years, Trivendra Singh Rawat has taken many decisions which did not go well with the core constituency of the BJP. The supporters of the party are demanding freedom for the temples from the government clutches, but the Uttarakhand government brought a bill to further increase the hold of the government over temple management.
Chardham Shrine Management Board Act, 2019, was brought to oversee the management of the four holy Hindu shrines which together form the Char Dham Yatra. Currently, all major temples in the hill state, including Badrinath and Kedarnath, are governed by individual committees which consist of government representatives. The management of Badrinath and Kedarnath is overseen by the Kedarnath-Badrinath temple committee, but under the Chardham Shrine Management Board Act, 2019, the government plans to take over the administration from individual committees to fully under its control. This move by Trivendra Singh Rawat did not go well with many senior BJP leaders.
BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy moved to court in order to prevent the takeover of the shrines by the Uttarakhand government and the matter is subjudice.
The decisions taken by the Uttarakhand government under the leadership of Trivendra Singh Rawat has neither gone well with the BJP supporters nor many BJP leaders, therefore, he might be forced to vacate the chair very soon.
