In yet another sign of which way the wind is blowing in West Bengal ahead of the crucial Assembly elections, former TMC MP Dinesh Trivedi who was one of the founding members of the party has joined the BJP and has launched a scathing attack on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and TMC. Ahead of today’s rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata by Prime Minister Modi, a slew of TMC MLAs and MPs also might defect to the BJP thereby spelling further trouble for Mamata Banerjee.
“This is the golden moment for me, for which I have been waiting for a long time. Nadda ji and my friends knew I was waiting for this. I never left ideology. The nation was above everything for me. Every person believes that PM Narendra Modi and BJP will keep the nation secure,” said Dinesh Trivedi upon joining the BJP.
Attacking Mamata Banerjee, he said, “Bengal has rejected TMC. They want progress, not corruption or violence. They’re ready for real change. Politics isn’t ‘khela‘, it’s serious. She (CM) forgot her ideals while playing.”
Earlier last month in a dramatic turn of events, Dinesh Trivedi had resigned as an MP on the floor of the parliament. “I am resigning from Rajya Sabha today. There is violence happening in my state. We cannot speak anything here,” said Trivedi.
Upon his resignation, Trivedi didn’t mince words against poll strategist Prashant Kishor and his I-PAC tasked with ensuring a third successive term for Mamata Banerjee.
The former Union Railway Minister said, “I don’t know who tweets, but the fact is, they do take our account password details. In good faith I shared but many times I’d see abusive tweets. I had to put my foot down and asked them to delete or I would. The governor also realized that Dinesh can’t use such abusive language. One day they tweeted in Hindi, abusing the PM and used a bad word. I said that firstly, I don’t tweet in Hindi and this isn’t my language. My image would be tarnished. They want some kind of conflict with the Centre all the time, but I don’t believe in that.”
Prime Minister Modi’s rally at Kolkata is likely to be attended by lakhs of people and will be giving sleepless nights to Mamata Banerjee as the momentum ahead of the Assembly elections is firmly in the favour of the saffron party. To further make things worse for the TMC, ABP News is reporting that 10 TMC MLAs and three MPs are in touch with the BJP with the latter performing background checks before officially inducting them into the saffron party.
As if to run salts into the wounds of TMC, it is being reported that former Rajya Sabha MP and party leader, Mithun Chakraborty is set to share the dais with PM Modi during today’s rally at the Brigade Parade Ground after the actor met senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya.
With big leaders like Dinesh Trivedi exiting from the party ahead of the polls, only Mamata and her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee will be left in the TMC if the West Bengal CM fails to immediately course correct.
