MEA destroys USA’s remarks on farmers’ protest with a jibe on Capitol Hill incident

The fake farmers’ protests have hogged international limelight ever since anarchists masquerading as ‘farmers’ took to the streets of India’s national capital on January 26 to run a free riot. Since February 2, the day popstar Rihanna’s slumbered conscience was awakened by a multimillion-dollar international campaign to defame India, many celebrities and influencers globally have taken to tweeting in support of the farmers, without having any idea about why they were protesting, or what the farm reforms passed by the Modi government were. With a Democrat regime at the helm of affairs in Washington DC, a State Department statement soon followed.

The US State Department took to lecturing India, although it did not dare to poke PM Modi in the face directly. As such, while the U.S. government called upon its Indian counterparts to respect the ‘peaceful protests’ and bring about a resolution through dialogue, it also made it a point to support the Modi government push for liberalising and unshackling the agricultural sector with the farm laws. That the Modi government had held 11 rounds of talks with the farmers which failed solely due to the obstinacy of the latter was conveniently ignored by the U.S.

“We recognise that peaceful protests are a hallmark of any thriving democracy, and note that the Indian Supreme Court has stated the same. We encourage that any differences between the parties be resolved through dialogue. In general, the United States welcomes steps that would improve the efficiency of India’s markets and attract greater private sector investment,” a statement from the U.S. Embassy said.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), however, was not about to take sermons from a country that barely a month ago was faced with an “attempted insurrection” at its seat of democracy. Therefore, it no less than likened the vandalism at the Red Fort on Republic Day to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol where five protesters died in police action, and said that both the incidents were being dealt with in accordance to the respective laws of the land.

Reminding the Biden administration of the mess back in their own home, “The incidents of violence and vandalism at the historic Red Fort on 26 January have evoked similar sentiments and reactions in India as did the incidents on Capitol Hill of 6th of January and are being addressed as per respective local laws.

“Any protest must be seen in the context of India’s democratic ethos and polity and the ongoing efforts of the government and concerned farmer groups to resolve the impasse,” Anurag Srivastava, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson said. With this, the MEA has exposed the hypocrisy of many who romanticise the violent protests in India but cry foul about the Capitol Hill violence and refer to it as ‘domestic terrorism’.

“India and US are both vibrant democracies with shared values,” the MEA spokesperson also remarked. As for the U.S.’ concern over internet shutdown at the protest sites and volatile areas of Haryana, Srivastava said that the said “temporary measures” had been taken to prevent further violence.

With a Biden administration at the helm of affairs in the U.S., the days of Uncle Sam poking its nose into every happening around the world are back. Uncle Sam’s tremendous appetite for lecturing other countries, while its own backyard continues to be a hot mess, is known to all. However, India’s pointed response to the Biden regime makes it abundantly clear to them that their comments on India’s internal matters are not welcome.
