One of the major reason for the alarming decline of the Indian National Congress is the party’s ideological bankruptcy as its leaders speak something and act in complete contrast to their earlier statements. After years of attacking the Hindu Mahasabha and the BJP over Nathuram Godse, Congress has inducted ‘Godse Bhakt’ Babulal Chaurasia into the party in the presence of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
Such are the times that we live in that an ardent follower of Nathuram Godse has joined the Indian National Congress. It is pertinent to note that Chaurasia was drafted into the INC by Kamal Nath himself.
Chaurasia, who had earlier quit Congress and joined the Hindu Mahasabha, where he later won the municipal polls, said, “I have been associated with the Congress in the past, so it is like returning to the family.”
When asked about his participation in events celebrating Godse, he said, “I didn’t know at that time what it was all about. I was pushed to the forefront of such events.” Chaurasia also stated that he has snapped all ties with the Hindu Mahasabha for the past two years.
In the past, Chaurasia had even pledged to forward the last court statement of Godse to one lakh persons.
The hypocrisy of Congress stands exposed yet again as in January this year when Hindu Mahasabha had established a library which was dedicated to Nathuram Godse, Kamal Nath had slammed the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Madhya Pradesh government.
“In the Shivraj government, Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse is being prayed to. There organised aartis, Mahimamandan and now Godse’s gyanshala, the assassin of the father of the nation in Gwalior?” tweeted Kamal Nath earlier in January.
Earlier in January, Congress party’s Seva Dal had released an utterly disgusting booklet on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The booklet claimed that the Hindu Mahasabha co-founder had a physical relationship with Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. The booklet titled ‘Veer Savarkar Kitne Veer? (Veer Savarkar, How Brave?)’ was distributed among volunteers during the inauguration of the Seva Dal national training camp in Bhopal’s Bairagarh.
It is worth mentioning that Seva Dal works as a social welfare arm of the Congress party. The content depicts absolute shamelessness as Nathuram Godse considered Veer Savarkar as his Guru.

On odd days the Congress attacks Godse and the Hindu Mahasabha and on even days it inducts Godse followers into the party fold. With the recent induction of Babulal Chaurasia into the party, the hypocrisy of the grand old party stands exposed.
