As a rattled Mamata Banerjee continues to script her own glorious downfall, her seasoned, but overhyped strategist, Prashant Kishor continues to watch helplessly. Now, another one of Kishor’s meticulously drafted myth of Hindu Bride Nusrat Jahan lies in tatters after she took to Twitter to condemn the chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram.’
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s (lack of) temperament was again on full display as when being greeted upon with the chants of “Jai Shri Ram”, an enraged Mamata refused to speak a word as a mark of protest.

Mamata’s blue-eyed girl and TMC MP, Nusrat Jahan was quick to defend her leader and in defending Mamata, she played spoilsport over poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s efforts of crafting the pro-Hindu image of Jahan, who especially after Suvendu Adhikari’s decision to switch sides to the BJP, was hoping to have emerged as TMC’s tallest Hindu leader. However, that is not the case anymore after Jahan’s tweet.
राम का नाम गले लगाके बोले ना कि गला दबाके । 🙏
I strongly condemn shouting of political and religious slogans at Government Functions to celebrate legacy of Freedom Fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary celebrations. #SaveBengalFromBJP #Shame— Nussrat Jahan (@nusratchirps) January 23, 2021
The fact that Jahan chose to label the holy chant of “Jai Shri Ram” as a political slogan, has exposed Jahan as TMC and its leaders seem to have been blinded by rampant minority appeasement. Unsurprisingly, the replies to Jahan’s tweet were flooded with chants of “Jai Shri Ram”.
Prashant Kishor after becoming the new strategist of Mamata Banerjee, helped her bring a new Hindu face for the TMC in the form of Nusrat Jahan owing to the latter’s marriage with businessman Nikhil Jain. She became the perfect ‘Hindu Bride’, honing the attire and presenting herself as a pro-Hindu, participating in every Hindu festival and soon gained a lot of popularity. However, Nusrat’s tweet laid bare her hypocrisy and destroyed the secular persona she had built.
For the uninitiated, on the historic occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary, and the country’s first ‘Parakram Diwas’, a grand event was organised at Kolkata’s Victoria Memorial. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, an enthusiastic crowd was present for the commemoration of their beloved Netaji’s birth anniversary. As such, sloganeering and excitement were in the air of Victoria Memorial on Saturday. Slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ were raised by the audience.
An unperturbed PM Modi, despite Mamata’s tantrums, ensured that the celebrations went on smoothly, as soon after Banerjee’s ‘protest’, he took to speaking from the dais. Upon hearing chants of Jai Shri Ram, Mamata Banerjee had taken to lecturing lesser mortals among the audience, saying, “I think govt’s program should have dignity. This is not a political program… it doesn’t suit you to insult someone after inviting them. As a protest, I won’t speak anything.” Nusrat Jahan’s sharp reaction on Twitter followed soon.
With the stroke of just one tweet, Nusrat Jahan has obliterated all the efforts of Prashant Kishor to project her as TMC’s Hindu face.
