Over the past few years, Sindh has become too problematic to manage for Pakistan, as the region strives for freedom. In a major pro-democratic rally by the advocates of Sindh freedom, posters of world leaders propped up urging their intervention and helping the region decouple from Pakistan. Embarrassingly for Pakistan, posters of PM Modi were also raised at the pro-freedom rally.
On the occasion of 117th birth anniversary of GM Syed, one of the founding fathers of modern Sindhi nationalism, a major pro-freedom rally broke out in Sindh which saw the posters of various world leaders like Angela Merkel and Joe Biden prop up. However, the posters of Indian PM Modi caught the eye of everyone and caused a massive loss of face to the Imran Khan government.
The rally took place in Sann town of Sindh in Pakistan, intending to urge leaders from around the world to intervene and unshackle Sindh from the throngs of Pakistan, where several protesters were also seen holding placards of PM Modi.
The mega rally saw the protesters claiming that Sindh is the home of Indus Valley Civilisation and Vedic religion, which was illegally occupied by the British Empire and subsequently left in the hands of ‘evil’ Islamist Pakistan during the partition in 1947.
Much has been written about how Pakistan sees Sindh as a cash cow and leaves no stone unturned in milking the resource-rich region and has scant regard for the people of Sindh as the government continues to treat them shabbily.
“Among all these barbaric assaults on its history and culture and all these ages of occupation and dawns of independence Sindh has retained and maintained its separate historical and cultural identity as a pluralist, co-existent, tolerant and harmonious society where all the different cultures, languages and ideas of the foreign and native people have not only influenced each other but accepted and absorbed the common message of the human civilisation,” said Shafi Mohammad Burfat, one of the protest organisers.
He added, “This historical synthesis of religions, philosophies and civilisation from the east and west has given our motherland Sindh a distinct place in the history of humanity.”
Slamming the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Burfat said, “While the Sindh gave India its name, the Sindh citizens who pioneered in the fields of industry, philosophy, marine navigation, mathematics and astronomy are today chained by the Islam-o-fascist terrorist unconstitutional forced federation of Pakistan by the military might of Punjabi imperialism in the name of Islam.”
The fact that several protesters raised the posters of PM Modi in Pakistan not only highlights Modi’s popularity but is also a stinging rebuke of Imran Khan’s ineffective and naive leadership which is threatening to plummet Pakistan into a state of an abyss.
